PHOTO Kanye West announces new album title, reveals cover on Twitter

Kanye 480

Kanye is about to drop a new album on us, but one thing he isn’t dropping is the religious comparisons of which he’s grown so fond. So Help Me God is the name of the next record by KW; the man himself announced it super-late last night via Twitter. (Super nonchalantly, too: The announcement and cover were his only two tweets for the day; he followed that up some hours later with birthday well wishes for his brother.)

Yeezus is apparently looking forward to stirring up a little controversy: in addition to the Rolling Stone Jesus cover of years past, the So Help Me God cover is (at least) Yeezus’ second major reinterpretation of religious imagery. The cover depicts four lowercase m’s in a diamond, which, for at least some Monastic orders, was a symbol representing the Virgin Mary.

The album doesn’t have a release date yet, but Kanye has performed two of its songs live. The second, “All Day,” he debuted at the 2015 Brit Awards last week. And the first, “Wolves,” he jammed out during the SNL 40th anniversary special a couple of weeks back there.

What do you guys think? Are you excited to hear new material–is Kanye still a game-changer for hip hop? Or are you tired of his antics & eager for someone else to step up? Will you check out So Help Me God when it’s unleashed later this year?
