In a bid for family solidarity, British parents Tanya and Adam Phillips got tattoos on their legs to match the strawberry birthmark their 18-month daughter Honey-Rea has.

Tanya was inspired to do it when she heard a couple whispering about Honey-Rae at a grocery store. “[My husband and I] had talked about having duplicate tattoos done for a little while, but that day, my mind was made up,” Tanya told The Mirror. “People are cruel without even realizing.”

“Most people might think it’s very extreme,” Tanya said. “But to us, it was the natural thing to do to ensure our daughter never felt different or alone in the world.”

The process was four hours long and very painful, according to Tanya, but still worth it. When Honey-Rae first saw her parents’ tattoos, she said they “matched.”
