Let’s face it, part of the allure and fantasy of 50 Shades of Grey is how loaded Christian Grey is. Meghan Daum even argued that Christian’s unimaginable wealth, and not kinky sex, is really what’s behind the “50” craze. What’s even more impressive is not that Christian’s a billionaire, but that he’s a self-made billionaire at the age of 27. How did he make all this money in such a short amount of time?
How much is Grey worth?
In the second novel, Grey claims that he makes $100,000 an hour. AN HOUR. Forbes has his estimated net worth as $2.2 billion.
What exactly does he do?
He owns Grey Enterprises Holdings, Inc, which seems to be a business-flipping company, infusing cash and management strategies into fledgling companies. He attributes part of his success to living without distractions, and valuing good employees so much as to put in them in binding contracts that make it difficult for them to jump ship.
Real-life billionaires are generally a little more stressed than Christian Grey, but, then, again, that’s part of the fantasy.
