Leah Calvert’s business partner denies investigation, says Leah isn’t in school

After Leah Calvert promoted her hair and makeup salon, Gloss, a number of times in the past few weeks, a spokesperson from the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists said yesterday they are “launching an investigation” and believe the business is “very much illegal.” Leah hasn’t addressed the report — but business partner Leslee Pannell spoke out yesterday with their side of the story.

“There is zero truth to the investigation,” Leslee told The Ashley’s Reality Roundup. “Nobody has contacted me.”

Leslee added she believes they should be in the clear because “Leah hasn’t done hair or makeup for anything.” She said she and other partner Crystal Spinks are the ones who do hair and makeup while Leah simply manages. The problem is that Leslee and Crystal are also still students, so it is illegal for them to offer hair services. (Leslee is a certified makeup artist, so that part is permissible.)

To make the situation even more confusing, Leslee said they don’t plan to make appointments until Leah’s done with cosmetology school — but noted the Teen Mom 2 star is currently on a break from classes. Leslee, a cancer survivor, said the business is also on hold while she recovers from a recent procedure.

“Crystal and I advertise but don’t work until I’m healed enough to do so,” said Leslee, who operated her own salon before teaming up with Leah. “[We] never had a problem before and can’t see a problem now.”
