After more than 20 years together, Giada de Laurentiis and Todd Thompson are getting a divorce. The celebrity chef announced the news on her website on Monday.
“After an amicable separation since July, Todd and I have decided to end our marriage,” Giada, 44, said. “Although our decision to separate comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus on the future and overwhelming desire for our family’s happiness has given us the strength to move forward on separate, yet always connected paths.”
Giada began dating Todd when she was a 19-year-old student at UCLA. She later moved to Paris to study at Le Cordon Bleu. They moved in together in California upon the completion of her culinary degree before marrying a decade later in 2003. They welcomed a daughter, Jade, in 2008.
In her statement yesterday, Giada said they plan to maintain a strong co-parenting relationship.
“Todd and I share a beautiful daughter and a lifetime of great memories that we both treasure more than anything,” she said. “We are so thankful for our friends and family, and really appreciate the support in this time of change.”
