VIDEO ABC Family’s Pat Robertson: Homosexuals will die out because they don’t reproduce

700 Club Pat Robertson Homosexuality

ABC Family founder/700 Club host Pat Robertson seems to believe homosexuality is a passing trend that will end within a few generations.

“You know those who are homosexual will die out because they don’t reproduce,” the 84-year-old televangelist said on a recent episode of his program. “You have to have heterosexual sex to reproduce.”

Pat offered the statement after receiving a question from a viewer about her church’s dating policy. She wrote, “The only ones in my church that are married already knew their partners before coming to church. It is treated as a sin to show interest in or have a mutual understanding in church with the opposite sex. Most of the people in church are frustrated because we’re getting older and no one is getting married.”

The flabbergasted host called the policy “the most nonsensical thing” he’s ever heard and compared it to what he believes will happen to gay people.

“It’s doomed,” Pat said. “God has made us to be in families. God has created a desire of men and women to have attraction to the opposite sex so that they will reproduce and have children. If I were you, I’d get out of the church as fast as I could, cast the dust of it on your feet, shake off the dust and run.”

This certainly isn’t the first time the aging Christian Broadcast Network founder has offered up a controversial opinion on homosexuality: Last year, he suggested Facebook adds a “vomit” button for photos or posts promoting LGBT couples.

“You’ve got a couple of same-sex guys kissing,” he said when asked for advice on social media practices. “Well, that makes me want to throw up. To me, I would punch ‘vomit,’ not ‘like,’ but they don’t give you that option on Facebook.”

He also claimed people can “un-acquire” homosexuality, which seems contradictory with his suggestion it’s a genetic predisposition that will die out.

“I think a lot of it is acquired,” he recently said. “Normally speaking, a person who has acquired this can un-acquire it. We’ve had many people who have indeed left the homosexual lifestyle and gone into a heterosexual relationship and been very, very happy.”

In years past, he’s come under fire for agreeing “the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays, and the lesbians” were to blame for 9/11, for saying Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for American abortion policies and for saying the 2010 Haiti Earthquake happened because the country’s founders swore “a pact to the Devil.” Although most networks would distance themselves from stars who offer up similarly controversial opinions, ABC Family is reportedly obligated to air 700 Club or ownership of the network will revert to Pat, who sold it to The Walt Disney Company.
