During a Twitter exchange with a fan this weekend, Avril Lavigne revealed she hasn’t been out in public since September because of ongoing “health issues.”
Avril, 30, was responding to fan account “Avril Lavigne Charts,” which asked why the singer hasn’t released any new music in two years.
“I feel bad because I haven’t been able to say anything to the fans to let them no [sic] why I’ve been absent. I’m torn as I’m quite private,” Avril responded. “I’m not feeling well. I’m having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers.”
When the fan page publicly tweeted “#GetWellSoonAvril #PrayForAvril,” Avril retweeted the message and expressed her gratitude. Her representative later confirmed to Billboard that Avril is indeed dealing with some medical problems. The publicist was unable to confirm the nature or severity of Avril’s issues, but denied reports she is pregnant.
At the time of her last public appearance for her birthday in September, many reported Avril’s one-year marriage to Chad Kroeger was on the rocks. In November, Chad called the stories “rumor mill stuff” and said the split report was inaccurate.
