A New York man’s chance to stay out of prison went to pot after he accidentally asked his probation officer for weed.
According to Huffington Post, Alvin Cross Jr. was on probation after serving time in prison for a 2006 armed robbery. Things went south when he texted his probation officer “You have some weed?” (Tip: Don’t label people “Probation Officer” and “Pot Dealer” in your phone. At the very least, call the latter guy “Weed Dealer” so the contacts aren’t next to each other!)
With grounds to follow-up, officers discovered a bag of cocaine in Alvin’s house. He later pled guilty to possession of cocaine and was sentenced to a year in prison. He earned an additional year for violating his probation.
