The Ventura County Fire Department rescued a woman who became stuck in the chimney of a Thousand Oaks, California home.
30-year-old Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa was freed from the chimney via the use of jackhammers on the brick stack and dish soap to lubricate her body. After she was taken to an area hospital she was arrested for allegedly illegally entering a residence and providing false information to the police.
The homeowner, who has only been identified as “Lawrence,” was not in the residence at the time of the chimney creepage. Lawrence told the authorities that he had been on about 6 dates with Nunez-Figueroa after meeting her online and that he had ended things recently.
Lawrence went on to tell CBS Los Angeles:
“It wasn’t Santa Claus, for sure. Having someone in your chimney is like kind of a weird thing you wouldn’t expect to come home to. It’s actually the second attempt for her trying to access the inside of my house, from the roof. Which just goes to show you, you have to be careful who you meet online.”
Nunez-Figueroa’s family has offered to pay for the repair to Lawrence’s dismantled chimney. Her bail was set at $2,500 and she is due in court today.
