Chris Brown is an Ebola conspiracy theorist

R&B singer Chris Brown expressed his views on the Ebola virus which has been garnering national headlines following the first official case of transmission of the disease in the United States.

Brown took to Twitter to toss his hat in the ring as someone who believes the virus was man-made as a form of population control.

Before we get Brown’s share, here’s a very brief introduction about the virus via Web MD:

Ebola is a rare but deadly virus that causes bleeding inside and outside the body. As the virus spreads through the body, it damages the immune system and organs. Ultimately, it causes levels of blood-clotting cells to drop. This leads to severe, uncontrollable bleeding. The disease, also known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever or Ebola virus, kills up to 90% of people who are infected.

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan recently expressed his belief that Ebola and AIDS were created by the U.S. government to “depopulate” the world’s black population.

Nicholas Evans, in a piece via Slate, looked to debunk the conspiracies surrounding the disease – including this idea that it was manufactured:

“As for conspiracies about engineered Ebola, we know the virus appeared in 1976. The 1970s was also a time when genetic engineering was in its infancy—no one could’ve engineered a virus, even if he’d wanted to. Short of a time-traveling bioterrorist, that particular theory isn’t tenable.”

Brown’s initial tweet about the virus went viral as it’s already had over 11,000 retweets.
