Amethyst Kelly’s ex boyfriend, Maurice Williams, has filed for divorce even though she claims they were never married. Wait – who are these people and how can that be!?!
Kelly , better known as Iggy Azalea, can’t seem to distance herself from Williams, aka Jefe Wine, Hefe Wine and Thirsty McGhee (ok – I made the last one up). Williams is the dude who claimed to have a sex tape of the two and was later sued by Azalea for some songs she wrote and he claimed he had the rights to and was going to release.
Now Williams is looking to make another grab at Iggy’s fame and new-found wealth by filing divorce papers in Texas where the laws are kinda murky. In the Lone Star state any man and woman who live together for any length of time are considered legally married if they agree to be married and mutually consider themselves husband and wife.
Azalea’s rep told TMZ that the “Booty” star never agreed to be married and never considered herself to be Williams’ wife. In the papers, Williams argues that they “agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the State of Texas on or about September, 2008.”
Predictably, Williams is requesting that the judge keep Azalea from selling any assets they accumulated together as “husband and wife” – translated, any music Azalea wrote which is now worth a lot of cash.
If the judge recognizes their marriage, all of that music would then legally be half his.
