VIDEO Bill Murray tells about the time he drove a cab so the driver could play saxophone

While at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last week, Bill Murray took part in a Q&A following a screening of his latest film, St. Vincent.

And, Murray being Murray, his answer to one question reminded us of both how great he is and why it really wouldn’t hurt to be  little more like him.

The anecdote that the moderator shared and that Murray elaborated upon involved a Bay Area cab driver who told Murray he was a saxophone player.

“When do you practice?” Murray asked.

“I don’t know; I drive the cab about fourteen hours a day,” the driver said.

And further said his sax was in the trunk. At which point Murray invited him to pull over and get the sax out, and play while Murray drove. To him, it was a “two plus two equals four” moment.

Before telling the story, though, Murray described his approach to life, sharing (among other things) the following:

You can do the best you can when you’re very, very relaxed….The more relaxed you are, the better you are….If I can relax myself, and enjoy what I’m doing, and have fun with it, then I can do my job really well.
