PHOTOS Woman, texting while driving, gets impaled on a guardrail through the buttocks

Pole

Christina Jahnz had just dropped her daughter off at Elizabeth Middle School in Colorado when she decided to text a friend.

The next thing that happened was she was looking up at the ceiling of her truck, covered in white powder from deployed airbags, with a metal guardrail jammed through her butt.

Jahnz was impaled on the guardrail when, in her own words, she looked down for “a split second” to send the text.

It came through the truck, and through Jahnz, stopping only after she was right stuck.

Jahnz claims she was sending a voice text.

According to police, she was only driving twenty miles per hour. But that was fast enough for some serious–and seriously embarrassing–injuries.

But those were nothing compared to what the pole suffered. Firefighters had to saw it off at both ends in order to get Jahnz out of the car and into the waiting ambulance.

From the woman herself:

I went into surgery and I lost count of the stitches after 40. They stitched me up inside too. I’m truly a miracle. They said if it had gone just a little bit the other way I would have bled out.

She’ll have to use a walker to get around, but her recovery will be total apart from that.

It just goes to show that you really should follow the old adage: “Don’t text and drive, or you’ll get a pole through the a**.” We’ve all heard it. Now it’s time to start living by it.
