MTV confirms new season of Teen Mom as Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood and Catelynn Lowell share details

Teen Mom New Season 2015

After months of speculation, MTV confirmed today that original Teen Mom stars Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood are returning to the network for a brand-new season. Former castmate Farrah Abraham will not participate.

According to US Weekly, the new season will premiere in 2015. Before then, the three 20-something moms will appear in a catch-up special this fall.

Amber Portwood, who completed a stint in prison last November, said her goals are different than when viewers last saw her.

“I’ve changed so much,” said Amber, mom to 5-year-old Leah. “I am currently enrolled in school but I have no idea what I want to major in yet.”

Maci Bookout said she’s excited for viewers to meet her boyfriend, Taylor McKinney, and to see how much she and 5-year-old Bentley have matured.

“My family and I are in such a new and interesting place in our lives,” she said. “I feel like I have grown up so much since the last time that I filmed anything for TV, so it will be very interesting to show viewers how our lives have evolved.”

Maci added she’s set to complete school in December, but already has a job as a social media marketing specialist.

Catelynn Lowell and longtime boyfriend Tyler Baltierra are expecting a new baby and are recommitted to planning a wedding.

“I feel like documenting this pregnancy is totally different, because now it’s our time to be parents,” said Catelynn, who chose adoption for daughter Carly. “Tyler and I have always done the show to help people… Now people can see what it will be like to juggle the responsibilities of taking care of our new baby while navigating our relationship with Carly and her adoptive parents.”

It’s unclear when the catch-up special or new season will premiere, but we’ll be sure to keep you all posted!

    Terrible idea.

    • TA

why? MTV banks on these girls, and they’re going to ride it as long as they can. seems like a brilliant idea to me.

  • Debra

    Maci still hasn’t finished college?

    • savannah

HAHAHAHAH. Seriously? Maybe she’s going to make a career out of going to college.

    • Shannon

I’m not a Maci fan, but how old is she? 23? Most student who go straight from high school to college with no interruptions graduate at 22. She isn’t that far off. A B.A. takes 4 years. Bentley is 5 and she was in high school when he was born. At least she will finish!

      • Guest

Lol she isn’t in a 4 year college! She’s enrolled in a 2 year college!

      • sammi

She’s only in a 2 year college program :-/ not a 4 year one. It will take her at least 4 more years to finish her 2 years for the bachelors degree.

  • Chellz

Can’t get behind this anymore; they are no longer teens these broads are 23 and see stop playin around

    • CP

IKR! Time for them to get REAL jobs like normal people.

  • Valerie

I’m excited to see the original girls again and I’m glad Farrah isn’t part of it.

    • ren

I’m happy Farrah is gone too. I used skip through her segments because watching her caused me stress and anguish. lol

      • frontdoormom

Lol! Is that what i felt too? She sure made my stomach tighten up when her segments came on.

  • savannah

They should probably change the title to “Young Adult Mom’s” Or… “Twenty-Somethings Moms”. Teen Mom just isn’t cutting it anymore. Must all need a paycheque, Maci is gonna need some more money to pay her 30th semester of college.

    • Maiko Higa

And the 80k she owes in back taxes…

      • savannah

Right…if this gig doesn’t pan out, she might need to hit up Farrah for some contacts in the….errr…”my-personal-sex-tape-made-with-a-hired-on-porn-star-boyfriend-got-released-by-accident” business.

        • sammi

Isnt it amazing Ferret hasn’t made a ping on the IRS’s radar yet? Her parents must be handling her finances. They seem to be business savvy

  • Josie

Yeah! I’m invested in these girls so it will be good to see them back on t.v.

    • Whhhhhhhhhat?!?

you need to find some better investments.

      • Josie

        To each their own.

  • Sanoga

I’d rather see Farrah than Catelynn. I always thought Catelynn was suspect boring on the show.. At least Farrah was interesting… albeit psychotic.

    • Sanoga

      *super, not suspect

  • TA

maci has definitely matured. and by matured, I mean looks almost 40 in her 20’s.

    • Debra

At least it isn’t because of plastic surgery.

      • sammi

No its from all those years of underage binge drinking and eating food off hotel room floors with her pals.

  • DubWhat Dubwhat

NO FERRAH?! Too freaking funny. =)

  • Hollywoodpecker

When will this bullsh!t end?!? Are they still going to be on the show when they are grandmas and call it Teen Grandmas?

    • savannah

HAHAHAHAHAH they can film from MTV’s old folks home where they keep all the geriatric MTV “stars” when they’re old.

    • Mia

I guess perhaps that could be part of MTV’s gameplan. Just carrying it on until one of the kids becomes old enough and f-ed up enough to do a spinoff.

I mean, lets be honest, there is no way all of these kids are going to go on to live successful lives. The girls like Maci and Amber and Chelsea will most likely go on to have more kids eventually, too. Of all the children these girls end up with, at least a few of them will end up being parents themselves way too young, or develop some sort of illegal addiction and constantly in trouble with the law, or just end up a psychological mess. The kids are adorable right now and I wish them the best, I really do. But I’d be lying if I said I think a majority of the kids will end up with ideal lives in their teenage and young adult years. I don’t care if their parents are on TV promoting safe sex, they are still being raised by absolute dimwits. Jeez, half the parents continued to get pregnant out of wedlock without college degrees or any sort of hirable skills anyway, despite promoting the exact opposite. Then there is some sort of thought process that their kids will break the cycle? Like I said, I think the kids are so cute and adorable and they are 110% my favorite part of the show. But I think a lot of them are going to grow up to be entitled little brats because of the attention and even more so because of how self-centered most of the moms and dads on the show are.

I sincerely wish the moms would be smart enough to realize how hard it is for kids to grow up in the spotlight. It’s sad that all these kids think being followed around by a camera 24/7 is what a normal childhood is, and it’s even more sad the parents think sacrificing their own children’s privacy to prove some sort of point isn’t altering their kids’ personalities. The reason the kids “like” the cameras is because they don’t know any differently. They don’t realize that in 10 years their parents fighting and arrest records and naked pictures and entire sex lives are going to be extensively documented for their entire middle/high school to see and make fun of them about.

If MTV wants to up the ratings, they should have had the girls sign something promising to stay off social media the second the subject of a comeback season was even suggested. As it is, we’ve remained up to date with everything the girls have been doing since the show’s end. What’s new to show?
I don’t get the point, and I don’t see the ratings going through the roof on this. Especially if they’re planning a catch up special on top of it.

  • Kari

I’m not sure I’ll be watching this one. I watched this religiously and now that they’ve been on hiatus for a while, I don’t need to watch any more. I mean…what is MTV going to show us that twitter and Facebook hasn’t already?

Side note: The Robin Williams picture on every page is killing me :(

  • Lisa

Will be boring without farrah, not going to Watch.

    • keiffer

Sounds like you’re a little jealous, Farrah.

  • Jordan Clarke

I don’t get why it’s still called Teen Mom since they’re in their 20s

  • howitis

All the teen moms and 16 and pregnant need to end. My god it has been done over and over, let the girls live like normal teen moms instead of giving them an easy out. No teen moms I know can afford to party like Maci, get boob jobs, plastic surgery, buy their own house etc ..

  • ss

They should change the name of the show to “I Was A Hoe When I was 16 And Because So I Got My Own Show And Collect MTV Paychecks And Party My Ass Off In Between Getting Arrested, Making Pornos, Going To Prison and Farming Out My Schooling For 125 years” Or “Skanks” for short.

    • Sadie

Having sex at a young age doesn’t make you a hoe.

      • ss

You must be from the south.

        • donthala

What does the south have to do with this? None of these hookers are from the south. Signed, old married prude from SC.

  • No

Great. Another season of watching Catelynn and Tyler eat pizza while rambling on like stoners about how they are going to conquer the world.

    • Brandy Nicole

Have they even done anything???? Do they work? Go to school?

      • Chelsea

They both dropped out of college.

  • Sara

    FARRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

    No seriously, good riddance.

  • Julissa

they chose an awful picture of Catelynn she looks like a pig.

  • Guest

“I feel like I have grown up so much since the last time that I filmed anything for TV..” haha yeah because owing 80k to the IRS shows how grown up you are Maci.

  • spottedgiraffe

Great. So MTV will be paying Maci’s 90k tax debt. Nice to know she can go back to boozing and partying nonstop in peace.

    • sammi

      BEEEENNTLLLYYY WHERE’S YO PIGGY BANK?
