When this charming photo of a formal wedding party posing with some casually dressed dudes hit the internet this week, it went viral, and someone even cooked up a fake texting backstory to explain it. We’ve got the scoop on what really happened.

This fake accidental text message exchange made the rounds on Twitter with the hilarious hashtag #westillcoming.

The married couple aren’t named Roger and Kristen. Their real names are Ian and Amy Hicks, and they were surprised when their photo became famous.

“The text is pretty funny. The #westillcoming? That’s hilarious,” Ian told People. “But this is such a great story, because it’s true. It happened to us.”

What really happened is that when the couple got married this June in Detroit, the wedding party took a little trip around the city after the ceremony. When they stopped at the Michigan Central Station to get some photos, they found rap group 7262 filming a music video. 7262 clapped for the couple and hung out with them for a while, dancing and snapped photos.

Later someone snagged a photo of the group from Ian’s Facebook page and posted it on Reddit, and the viral sensation snowballed from there. Not only were the Hicks’ surprised about their pic making the rounds, but they also found out they had been recorded dancing to 7262’s “Anthem,” and made it into the music video.
