Chris Colfer Glee firing a hoax, result of Twitter hacking

Glee Chris Colfer as Kurt Hummel

UPDATE – WHEW! Chris Colfer’a manager has denied reports that Chris Colfer has been fired from Glee after the actor posted a tweet saying as much moments ago. Colfer’s manager tells The Hollywood Reporter that his client’s verified Twitter accound was hacked and that Colfer is currently on a mid-Atlantic flight without WiFi access and is unable to delete or respond to the tweet himself. 20th Century Fox has issued a statement about the tweet as well. “We’ve been alerted that Chris Colfer’s Twitter account has been hacked,” the statement reads. “Rumors of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth. We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season.”

Well hell yeah!

UPDATE – Chris finally got off the plane and was able to respond to the hubbub — which he did with his usual humor:

Now, bck to our originally scheduled bad news — which is actually good news now that we know the truth!

Gleeks around the world are reeling as actor Chris Colfer has just announced he was “let go” from Glee and will not be returning.

Here is Chris’ tweet:

Glee has been in steady decline for a couple seasons, and I really can’t imagine it continuing without it’s most Gleeky cast member! I’m sure some would argue that Lea Michele’s Rachel Berry might be more “Gleeky,” but I think the issues tackled on the show with Colfer’s gay Kurt Hummel character are what helped establish the show as ground-breaking and culture-altering — and super damned entertaining.

Regardless, I doubt few will argue when I say Glee just will not be Glee without Chris Colfer. Maybe it will be good. Hell, maybe it will even be better, but it simply will not be the same.

It will be interesting to know what these “personal issues” are that led to Chris Colfer’s departure. The fact that he says he was “let go” suggests that it was the show’s decision and not his, so hopefully that eliminates any sort of medical issue as the reason.

Stay tuned…
