Usher admits he’s disappointed in some of Justin Bieber’s actions

Ever since signing a 13-year-old Justin Bieber to his label, Usher’s been one of the Baby singer’s top fans. However, Usher now admits many of Justin’s actions are “unfortunate.”

“I hate some of the things I hear,” Usher told Nylon Guys.

He added he takes news reports with a grain of salt — even though he could surely verify with Justin if he really wanted to know the truth.

“I will tell you this: Success comes with a price. Every person that has grown up, grows up with something. It ain’t just perfect from the beginning,” said Usher, who began working with Sean Combs in New York City when he was 16. “I gave every bit of advice and always told him it was up to him if he really wanted this. Now that he has it, as an adult, it’s his to manage.”

Having experienced his own fame as a young adult, Usher said he doesn’t “turn my head in shame” based on what he knows about Justin.

“I don’t because it’s all part of life’s process. Am I in it with him? Yeah.”

Usher’s story is included in the new June/July issue of Nylon Guys, meaning he was likely interviewed before videos of a teenage Justin Bieber making racist jokes leaked this week. TMZ confronted Usher about the videos earlier this week, but The Voice judge evaded all the questions. Justin’s people told TMZ he told both Usher and mentor Will Smith about the videos years ago when he realized how hurtful his words were. Usher reportedly made Justin watch historically racist videos to drive the point home.

Justin also apologized in a public statement…

I’m very sorry. I take my friendships with people of all cultures very seriously and I apologize for offending or hurting anyone with my childish and inexcusable mistake. I was a kid then and I am a man now who knows my responsibility to the world and to not make that mistake again. Ignorance has no place in our society and I hope the sharing of my faults can prevent others from making the same mistake in the future. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to say but telling the truth is always what’s right. Five years ago I made a reckless and immature mistake and I’m grateful to those close to me who helped me learn those lessons as a young man. Once again….I’m sorry.
