Channing Tatum said he is “probably a pretty high-functioning” alcoholic. The question is, how serious was he?
Speaking to GQ for a feature story, the former Sexiest Man Alive spoke about hard boozing with friend Jonah Hill, bourbon-feuled midnight sculpting sessions and his love of beer. Reflecting on some of that, he admitted he probably drinks too much.
“I’m probably a pretty high-functioning, I guess, you know, I would say, alcoholic, I guess,” he said. “There’s probably a tendency to escape. I equate it to creativity, and I definitely equate it to having a good time.”
Still, Channing said he can (and does) stop anytime — such as right after daughter Everly was born or during the four months he’s working on the Magic Mike sequel. But, “at the end of that movie, it’s go time.”
Rather than considering the drinking to be an issue, Channing said it just fits in with his general motto to push the limit at every turn. He added, “I get one shot at life, and I can say that I’ve lived a crazy one.”
