It’s time to flip the “Florida news” story on its head with the help of one seriously impressive young woman from Hollywood, Florida.
Grace Bush is 16-years-old and she is set to graduate from Florida Atlantic University High School this Friday. That’s impressive enough but for Grace, her high school graduation actually falls days after earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
In a report filed by CBS Miami, Bush revealed how she managed this remarkable feat:
“It’s kind of weird that I graduated college before high school. I started when I was 13 at Broward College and I also took my classes throughout the summer, so I was able to finish it before four years.”
Florida Atlantic University has a dual enrollment program that allows students to earn college credit while saving thousands of dollars in the process. Grace, with the encouragement of her parents, took full advantage of this opportunity, graduating with a 3.8 GPA while completing the college program in just 3 years.
Speaking of Grace’s parents, mom Gisla Bush home schools all 9 of their children. Grace is the 3rd oldest. Mom and dad encouraged her to participate in the program because they knew they would not be able to afford to put all of their kids through college in the traditional way.
Gisla said of her talented daughter, “At two years old, she was already reading and I was totally shocked.”
So what are Grace Bush’s aspirations after receiving her high school diploma Friday while already in possession of a bachelor’s degree? She’s moving right on to a master’s degree program this fall and then intends on entering law school. “I would eventually like to become Chief Justice of the United States,” Grace added.
