In light of new surveillance footage, the food served at a West Virginia Pizza Hut sounds a whole lot more like f-ewwwwww-d: The video, which was obtained by local WOWK-TV, shows the district manager urinating into the kitchen sink — which is used for cleaning utensils and supplies.
A Pizza Hut spokesperson quickly apologized to “those in our system who have been let down by this situation.” The rep called it an isolated incident and said the employee was immediately fired.
“We are embarrassed by the actions of this individual. Pizza Hut has zero tolerance for violations of our operating standards, and the local owner of the restaurant took immediate action and terminated the employee involved.”
The Mingo County Health Department took it a step farther by closing the Pizza Hut, which it deemed a “substantial hazard to the public health.” City sanitarian Brett Vance added they are taking the matter very seriously.
“They’re closed until we do a thorough cleaning on the place and have the reassurance there are safeguards in place.”
Until the Pizza Hut reopens — and likely even after that — Giovanni’s Pizza, the only direct competitor in the town of 392, will likely experience a boost in sales. I can just imagine the marquee: “There’s no pee in our pizza!”
