ABC’s Gia Allemand tribute video from The Bachelor: Countdown to Juan Pablo special

Gia Allemand

Tonight is the official premiere of Juan Pablo Galavis’ season of The Bachelor but last night ABC aired “The Bachelor: Countdown to Juan Pablo,” a special full of humorous clips designed to get fans excited about the new season. But, ABC also took the opportunity to get very serious and pay tribute to The Bachelor alumna Gia Allemande, who died after committing suicide in August of 2013, with a touching tribute video.

The full video from the episode begins with The Bachelor host Chris Harrison introducing some clips of Gia talking about life and love. “I just hope people remember my kind heart,” Gia says. “I have a kind heart for people. That’s what I hope people remember me for.”

Gia’s mother Donna Micheletti appeared later in the segment and talked about the tragic loss of her daughter at the age of 29. “Gia took her own life, and it is heart-wrenching, and I wouldn’t want to see any other parent go through this,” the emotional Micheletti says. “There is plenty of help for everyone. I just miss her.”

The full clip is not available as an embed yet, but here is part of the video that includes some of Gia Allemand’s friends from The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad remembering her:

ABC also set up a page for “Remembering Gia” on The Bachelor‘s website to not only pay tribute to Gia but also raise awareness for suicide prevention. Here is the information with links on how you can help:

Gia Allemand was a beloved member of the Bachelor community. Her untimely death has left us all in shock, mourning, and in search of answers through education and research. Together with Gia’s mother, we at The Bachelor are encouraging friends, family, fans and admirers of Gia to support The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, either through a direct donation or by downloading Matt White’s song TAKING ON WATER- as heard in tonight’s episode. All proceeds from the download will go to this important charity. Thank you for all of your support in the name of our friend, Gia Allemand.
