REPORT The Bachelor’s Juan Pablo Galavis had child support issues

Juan Pablo Galavis Carla Rodriguez

In the bio for Juan Pablo Galavis, the hunky object of affection on ABC’s upcoming 18th season of The Bachelor, the former soccer star is described as a dedicated father:

While playing for Miami FC, Juan Pablo received some life changing news when he learned that his girlfriend, Carla, was pregnant. Refusing to be an absentee father, Juan Pablo put his dream of soccer aside to focus on a more important goal, raising his daughter. Born on Valentine’s Day in 2009, Camila Valentina Galavis will always and forever be Juan Pablo’s Valentine.

Now there’s a new report citing official court documents that might place Juan Pablo in a less-favorable light.

Radar Online, via The National Enquirer, is reporting that Galavis was ordered by a judge to pay back child support to Carla Rodriquez in May 2011 – more than 2 years after his daughter was born.

Juan Pablo was given an income deduction order by Florida Department of Revenue’s Child Support Enforcement Program requiring employers to automatically deduct $243.94 per month for child support, plus $49.00 per month for retroactive child support until an outstanding balance of $3,574.57 was paid.

Galavis’ bio goes on to add that, “Juan Pablo took his responsibility as a new father seriously and began a new career in sports and entertainment consulting.”

A source revealed that, “Juan Pablo has been hoping that news of his court-ordered child support didn’t get out because he doesn’t want Bachelor fans finding out he’s not the perfect father he portrays himself to be.”

Juan Pablo is set to start handing out roses for what’s being billed as “Juanuary” on the season premiere of The Bachelor Sunday night at 8/7c.
