Charlie Hunnam drops out of 50 Shades of Grey, Christian Grey role up for grabs

Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam backs out of 50 Shades of Grey movie

Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam has backed out of the 50 Shades of Grey movie meaning the most desirable (in more ways than one) role as seductor Christian Grey is available once again!

Universal Pictures and Focus Features made the announcement today, issuing the following statement:

The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.

I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a bit of hooey to me. There’s just no way Charlie Hunnam committed to the biggest film role on the planet and then only later realized, “Oh yeah. I’ve got to keep doing that television show I’ve been doing for five years and can’t possibly do this movie too.”

I think the media frenzy after the announcement made Charlie realize that this film role would define the rest of his career (both professionally and in his personal life, as far as paparazzi, media attention, and crazes fans) and he just decided to back out.

Either way, it means the Christian Grey casting discussions and guesses can begin anew! I’m going to go ahead and make my prediction of Scott Eastwood, the son of Clint Eastwood who recently took the internet by storm with his racy shirtless pics.

Here are a couple of Christian Grey worthy samples from his Town & Country photo shoot.

Scott Eastwood Christian Grey

He has the perfect combination of sexy good looks and a Hollywood pedigree, but he hasn’t yet had much exposure as an actor and a project like this would put him permanently on the Hollywood celebrity map and open some VERY big doors for Scott. (Something Charlie didn’t really need as much.) Remember — YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!
