REPORT Amber Portwood to be released from prison in early November

Some very exciting and positive news from the Teen Mom world today as there are reliable reports that Amber Portwood will be getting out of prison on or around November 6, which is less than a year-and-a-half into her five-year sentence for a felony drug conviction!

The former reality star stated back in July, “I’m working my a** off to get out of here!” and it appears as though her hard work has paid off as The Ashley is reporting she will be getting out of prison the first week of November. “Although she is scheduled to be released on November 6, this is the prison system,” The Ashley reminds us “so something could go wrong between now and then, but as of now, Amber’s scheduled to be released.”

If you remember, Amber elected to serve out the sentence instead of returning to rehab because rehab wasn’t working and she was afraid she was going to die from abusing Fentanyl pain patches. “I just hope you guys understand that I chose prison to help me, and pretty much save me from myself,” she later told her brother Shawn in an email.

And speaking of her brother, Shawn seemed to confirm the report of her November release with this statement posted on Amber Portwood’s official Facebook page:

Possibility of a media uproar so I just want to be the first to say before it is heard in the tabloids that Amber will be released soon. She has done everything required to be released long before the five year sentence. Congratulations sis, and I know that you will do everything we talked about. You now have control of your future and from what I know it looks bright. – Shawn Portwood

He also tweeted a little over a half hour ago, “Congratulations sis. I am so happy that you are finally being released. You did everything you needed to do to get out long before 5 years.”

Shawn seemed to foreshadow the big news with this statement posted on the Facebook page on September 12:

I am beyond proud of what my sister has done since she decided to take jail time over what she was doing. She has made some strides. Far more than many of you can imagine. I hope to see her in person very soon. – Shawn Portwood

Amber “working her a** off” includes going through the CLIFF (Clean Living Is Freedom Forever) drug rehabilitation program and working towards finally getting her GED. Though it’s unclear if Amber has gotten her GED yet, she revealed back in July that she had taken her TABE testing in preparation for the GED and did exceptionally well. “I got my scores back and I had college level scores in English. And I got a perfect 12.9 in social studies and science,” she revealed at the time.

We reported a few months ago that Amber’s hard work might lead to a release as early as this October, and it’s great to hear that estimate wasn’t far off! From what we have seen and heard about and from Amber since her incarceration, I think there is good reason to be optimistic that she has managed to completely turn her life around. I cannot wait for Starcasm to able to share photos of her emotional reunion with daughter Leah! 🙂
