Walking Dead spin-off series announced, reportedly titled Spread the Dead

Spread the Dead

Riding on the heels of AMC’s mega-hit Walking Dead, producers announced on Monday that they are developing a new series set in the zombie-infested world. Some sources report the show is tentatively titled Spread the Dead.

What we do know is that the show will premiere in 2015 and will follow a different set of characters. At this point, other details are sparse — which is exactly how executive producer Robert Kirkman likes it.

“The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing,” said Kirkman in a statement.

Fans of the original have already begun weighing in with their own suggestions for the show — although some are more serious than others.

“Walking Dead: Wyoming. There’d only be 3-4 zombies, but that would leave extra time for character development,” offered one aspiring screenwriter.

Another fan suggested the show should move southwest from Georgia: “I hope it’s called ‘Meanwhile, in Texas…’ where all the first zombies were promptly shot and society in the Republic of Texas carries on as normal.”

The news comes shortly after AMC producers confirmed the long-rumored Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul. Unlike Breaking Bad, there is no end in sight for The Walking Dead.

Season 4 of The Walking Dead premieres on AMC on Sunday, Oct. 13.
