Friday Kanye West was charged with with attempted grand theft and misdemeanor battery related to a caught on camera altercation he had with a paparazzo named Daniel Ramos July 19, 2013.

LA city attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan confirmed that the rapper has been charged, and an arraignment has been set for October 10. He doesn’t have to show up himself if he has an attorney appear for him.

TMZ reported that Ramos’ hired attorney Gloria Allred and filed a lawsuit against West, alleging assault, battery and negligence.

L.A. prosecutors are not pressing felony charges, but he IS facing two misdemeanors brought against him by city authorities, which could result in a a $2,000 fine or a maximum year in jail.

TMZ taped the entire incident, and prior to the altercation, Kanye warned the paparazzi to not come near him.

Friday Kanye’s sort-of-brother-in-law Lamar Odom was also charged with a DUI, so it didn’t seem to be a good day to be in a relationship with a Kardashian sister. So far to everyone’s knowledge Scott Disick managed to stay out of trouble.

In other Kanye news, he got a little tipsy on Grey Goose vodka (by his own admission) at a friend’s party in Brooklyn Wednesday night and went on a rant. “I don’t give a f–k about these corporations and these sellouts, we make good music, we make good music. We don’t give a f–k about how much god d–n money you make, we make good music!”
