It’s been three days since Usher and Tameka Raymond’s son Usher Raymond V nearly drowned in a terrifying pool accident on Monday, and today Tameka shared a photo on instagram of little Usher V in the hospital where he is recovering from the incident. Along with the photo, which features Tameka holding her son in one frame and “Get Well Soon” balloons and gifts in the other, Tameka included the message:
My favorite 5 year old. What a blessing! I have always loved and appreciated my sons but tragedies and close calls make this even more evident. URV had an angel named Kile Ishmael and our Lord and true savior to look after him. Words cannot express the relief and how thankful to God I truly am. Thank you Jehovah God, Jesus and Kile [angel emoji] …also The AV worker that saved my son is my Hero!!! Period
The entry ended with a series of emojis that included a heart, an angel, praying hands, and clapping hands.
Tameka also updated fans on Twitter earlier today, letting everyone know that her son is doing much better:
Im very happy this morning, my son is resting well… we had a SpongeBob marathon ALLL night, he wouldn't go to sleep! Thank u 4 the prayers

The photo and message come soon after it was reported Tameka Raymond has filed legal documents seeking custody of her two children with Usher, Usher Raymond V (5) and Naviyd Ely Raymond (4), claiming that the pool incident was an indication that Usher is letting other people raise the children, and they are not doing a good job.
Earlier today Usher publicly thanked the men who helped rescue his son from the pool after he got his arm caught in a drain, saying that the men are “true heroes.” You can read Usher’s statement in its entirety, which also praises his Aunt, who was watching Usher V at the time (and who Tameka seems to have a particular disdain for), here.
