Viewers of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo know that Alana Thompson’s dad Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson has been having a number of medical issues that have resulted in several trips to the hospital over the past year. Back in September he was in an ATV accident that landed him in the hospital, and then he was back again in February with pancreatitis. After reportedly having dizzy spells and passing out, Sugar Bear was hospitalized once more in May. According to Mama June’s updates on Facebook, Sugar Bear continues to have spells, and the family said that he had a series of tests done in June that led to “not a good” diagnosis. Here’s what Mama June wrote at the time:
Well we went to the doctor not a good report š we will b headed to Jacksonville Florida in a few wks to get more results and c what the long term plan will b for sugarbear like I said Iām sorry right now donāt want to share the diagnosis until we get all the information like we said b4 he is being and acting normal unless he has a episode..

As Mama June said, the family headed off to Jacksonville, Florida where they are currently having Sugar Bear checked out by a neurologist at the Mayo Clinic. Here are all of her recent updates on Sugar Bear’s health from the last few days, including responses to commenters:

Well everyone plz keep sugarbear in our thought as we r leaving mcintrye to head to Jacksonville to the mayo clinic to see what they will say in the am we r all nervous to c what will b done with everything will update when we hear something āŖ#ānervousā¬ and āŖ#āhopingā¬ for the best…
HE HAS BEEN PASSING OUT ALOT SINCE MAY AND THERE IS SOME OTHER THINGS GOING ON WITH HIS HEAD SO WE R GOING TO FIND OUT WHAT THE NEXT STEP WILL B
SUGARBEAR HAS BEEN HAVING SPELLS THE LAST FEW MTS WHERE HE BLACKS OUT… TRYING TO FIND THE CAUSE OF IT & A SOLUTION… PAYING WE GET THE ANSWERS AND IT’S SOMETHING MANAGEABLE!!!!
Him passing out…. Had nothing to do with what he eats or his dipping… his pancreatitis is under control
Sugarbear has been having problems the last few mts since he got back out the hospital again, of times where he blacks (passes) out…drs here couldn’t figure out why and needs they have him to try to control it aren’t helping… so we are now heading to Mayo Clinic in hopes to find answers! #prayersforsugarbear

Thanks everyone… and we are concentrating on sugarbear today while at the hospital, we won’t be meeting with any fans & no one will be allowed in with us. Sorry this is a private/family thing…. but will update as soon we know something & can… hoping all goes well & nothing serious we r all really nervous about the “unknown” but going for the best!
Well we r back at the hotel after the neuro appt have to go back for more tests today and we will b here all week to run tests and more appts to get the right diagnosis and treatment sugarbear needs so will update more later

Yes the girls are missing school bc we are in fl for MEDICAL purpose… sugar bears health is more important to us right now, they will make up their work when we get back
School just started Friday… the school is well aware of what is going on and why we are in Jax @ the Mayo Clinic.. we aren’t here on vacation or fun.. Sugarbear wanted everyone close by since we don’t know what we are dealing and “just incase” orginally the girls was gonna stay with friends & go to school but Jax is about 5hrs from us and IF something happen or IF (god forbid) he needed some kind of surgery etc he wanted the family here with him and the girls love him just like their own father.. he’s the one that’s been here w/him thru the yrs & raise an love them as his own… so yes they are missing a few days of school – they can easily make it up when we get back or IF we are here for more than a few days yes we will get a tutor… but as of right now, Sugarbears health is what is most important.
Sorry everyone.. we are not planning any meet/greets at this time… we are here for sugarbears health so that is our main concern at this time… if anything changes we’ll def post!! Also we’ll post updates as we get more info.. right now he’s ok as well as the family just wanting answers! Thanks for all the prayers, comments, concerns etc. it means SO much to all of us!!!!

IN MAY SHUG WAS ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER HAVING DIZZY SPELLS & PASSING OUT… THEY PUT HIM ON A MED TO TRY & HELP BUT IT HASN’T HELPED AND DONT KNOW WHATS CAUSING IT SO THEY REFERRED US TO THE MAYO CLINIC TO SEE A NEURO SPECIALIST… WE SAW THE DR AT THE MAYO CLINIC MON MORNING AN HE SENT SHUG FOR SOME TEST BUT WE DONT KNOW ANYTHING AS OF RIGHT NOW… WILL KEEP EVERYONE UPDATED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE WHEN WE DO… HE’LL GO FOR MORE TEST TOMORROW.. #prayersforsugarbear

we r back home from the mayo clinic thanks for all the prayers n concerns for sugarbear they ran lots test and think they have a diagnose but we go back the 19th for 1 more test to confirm it so will let yall know more after that appt SN THANK U for all the hbd wishes it was good 1- snap chat me @ mamajune4real
Tammy he’s feeling ok… he doesn’t “feel” sick he just has random dizzy spells where he passes/blacks out… we r back home now & tryin to live normally.. plus its late an hes getting ready for bed
