Honey Boo Boo and her rowdy family squared off against Buddy Valastro’s crew last weekend on a sure-to-be entertaining Family Feud.
“Well wish us good luck as we go to family feud to compete against the cake boss tomorrow we will let y’all know when it will air,” revealed the Thompson/Shannon family in a Facebook post on Sunday. “We will b playing for GLADD as our charity.”
The fun competition pitted Honey Boo Boo directly against Buddy’s 10-year-old daughter, Sofia. According to Access Atlanta columnist Rodney Ho, that was an amusing juxtaposition.
“A very shy Sofia barely uttered a word unless prompted. Alana, on the other hand, messed around with Harvey, explaining where her nickname came from and twisting her face sideways and jumping around like she had consumed 20 candy bars before taping.
The rest of the Thompson/Shannon team was filled out by Mama June, Sugar Bear, Pumpkin, Chickadee and Chubbs. Buddy’s team included familiar faces from his family-centered TLC show.
Even though the families are co-network stars, Chubbs was apparently starstruck by her favorite baker: “Jessica (chubbs) cried like a baby when she meet buddy she is his BIGGEST fan #cakeboss”
Honey Boo Boo’s squad had an advantage: The family downloaded the Family Feud app for some pregame preparation. Then again, at least one question was said to involve cake, so we’d assume the Cake Boss’ family would take those points.
Host Steve Harvey said he had fun with the crew, but admitted some of the Thompson/Shannon family’s “count-tray” customs were baffling.
“The daddy’s name is Sugar Bear,” Harvey explained. “That threw me a little bit. I’ve never referred to an adult male as ‘Sugar Bear.'”
The air date hasn’t yet been announced, but it will likely be this fall. Although we have to wait until then to find out the winner, it seems safe to assume it will be a humorous episode!
