The Real Housewives of New York City are experts at creating drama in front of the cameras, but the ladies turned things around this past week as they faced off against Bravo off camera in a contract showdown that reportedly ended with the network holding firm on its salary offers. Though it was initially reported that all six ladies from Season 5 would be returning for Season 6, a rep for Bravo later revealed to The Wrap that, in fact, only four of the housewives had signed contracts: Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan, Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson. That means the futures of Countess LuAnn de Lesseps and Aviva Drescher are still up in the air.
“Well, my name is always on the list, darling,” LuAnn said on Tuesday, May 14, when The Huffington Post asked her about Bravo’s recent announcement. “But they have to make me happy.”
For weeks leading up to Bravo’s statement, there had been rumors that the cast, including LuAnn, wasn’t happy with the offers being presented — especially since the amount is lower than what it actually takes to be “Housewives-ready.”
Despite her possibly not being happy with her negotiations thus far, LuAnn sounds to be completely on board with returning — if that’s what the producers want. “It’s been a journey. I’ve been there from the beginning. I’ve been the driving force behind ‘Housewives of New York’ with my cast mates,” she says, adding, “I hope it’s going to work out. I really do.”
As for what she wants her fans to know, LuAnn had the following message: “I love the show and I hope to be back so hang in there and keep rooting for me.”
The Real Housewives of New York is set to begin filming any day now, so if LuAnn does want to get on board, she’s going to have to do it quick!
So far, no word from the other remaining unsigned cast member, Aviva Drescher.
