On-screen, Danielle Fishel only had eyes for her Boy Meets World co-star Ben Savage. But, off-screen the 1990s teen star was hooking up with Lance Bass from *NSYNC. The celebrity pair even went to Fishel’s prom at Calabasas High School in 1999!
“When I was a senior in high school I asked my boyfriend at the time if he would go to prom with me, because my boyfriend at the time was Lance Bass,” Fishel, now 31, revealed in a video for PopSugar. “So I had to make sure his schedule would allow for prom.”
Fishel, who is preparing to revive her character of Topanga in Girl Meets World, was disappointed when Bass said he was going to be in Japan and couldn’t make it. A few weeks later, Fishel got three dozen roses in the mail with a card that said, “Plans have changed, I’ll be in town. Can I take you to prom? Check yes or no.”
Lovestruck Fishel obviously said yes to the boy-band hottie.
“And a couple weeks later we were at prom together dancing it up,” she said.
Even though it’s hard to imagine Topanga with anyone other than Corey, it’s particularly hard to imagine her with the former *NSYNC star, who came out of the closet in 2006. Even though their romance eventually fizzled out — I wonder why? — they both went on to find love. Fishel is engaged to get married in October and Bass is dating model Michael Turchin.
