Oh no! Ryan Gosling is quitting acting for a while

32-year-old Ryan Gosling has been in the entertainment industry since he was 8, and has been making movies nonstop for the past few years, so it’s understandable if he wants to take some time off.

In a recent interview (Via HuffPost) Gosling says of acting:

“I’ve been doing it too much. I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing. I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does.”

Even if he’s taking a break for a while, we still have a few months of Gosling movies coming down the pike. The Place Beyond the Pines, which also co-stars Gosling’s girlfriend Eva Mendes and Bradley Cooper and was directed by Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance is due in limited release March 29. He also wrapped an untitled Terrence Malick project, and has a movie with Drive director called Only God Forgives due out in May.

The actor is also about to start shooting his directorial debut How to Catch a Monster, which is set to start filming in Detroit and stars Saoirse Ronan, Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes, Matt Smith, and Ben Mendelsohn.

Ryan’s girlfriend Eva Mendes has recently gushed about how good Ryan is with children. Maybe he’ll use his time off to start a family.
