Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson’s autobiography “Happy, Happy, Happy” due out in May

Duck Dynasty Phil Robertson book cover autobiography Happy Happy Happy

There’s a reason that A&E’s Duck Dynasty is the most popular reality show on cable after premiering less than a year ago — the men and women on the show are not only authentic, intelligent, loving, and sincere good ol’ boys and girls who run a multi-million (billion?) dollar business out of Monroe, Louisianna, they are also just plain interesting and damned entertaining. And perhaps none are more interesting or more damned entertaining than Robertson family patriarch Phil Robertson, who will be sharing his AMAZING life story in an autobiography titled Happy, Happy, Happy: My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander due out May 7.

From the publisher:

This no-holds-barred autobiography chronicles the remarkable life of Phil Robertson, the original Duck Commander and Duck Dynasty star, from early childhood through the founding of a family business.

Life was always getting in the way of Phil Robertson’s passion for duck hunting.

An NFL-bound quarterback, Phil made his mark on Louisiana Tech University in the 1960s by playing football and completing his college career with a master’s degree in English. But Phil’s eyes were not always on the books or the ball; they were usually looking to the sky.

Phil grew up with the dream of living the simple life off the land like his forebears, but he soon found himself on a path to self-destruction—leasing a bar, drinking too much, fighting, and wasting his talents. He almost lost it all until he gave his life to God. And then everything changed.

Phil’s incredible story tells how he followed a calling from God and soon after invented a duck call that would begin an incredible journey to the life he had always dreamed of for himself and his family. With great love for his country, his family, and his maker, Phil has finally found the ingredients to the “good life” he always wanted.

Here’s a video clip of Phil talking about how his life was transformed from one of “sex, drugs, and rock and roll” to one that followed the teachings of Christ:

It should be noted that at the top of the book cover it says, “Previously Published as Legend of the Duck Commander,” which was written by Phil Robertson’s older brother James F. Robertson and published in 2011. James is an experienced writer who has been in the journalism field for more than fifty years. He has written for numerous small town and metropolitan newspapers as well as trade publications with international circulations and corporate magazines. He was one of seven siblings (including Phil) who were raised in a three-room log cabin built in 1928 in Vivian, Louisiana.

James says of the book on his web site:

It was a great experience writing a book about my younger brother, Phil Robertson. I hope his Duck Commander and Duck Dynasty fans enjoy it. It is the original story of Phil’s upbringing and the way of life that shaped this unique individual and made him the legend he is today. It’s about a reactionary father who taught him he could live off the land, his struggles as a young man to reconcile what the really wanted to do with his life and the steadfast love of his wife Ms. Kay who saw him through his turbulent years. The culmination is in the invention of a duck caller that has made him wealthy and the love of God that led to his present way of life.

And here is the description from the inside of the dust jacket:
