Janet Jackson has been rumored to be planning an over-the-top wedding to her fiancé Wissam Al Mana for the last few months, but that is far from the truth. These two are already married (they have been for months) and their ceremony was anything but extravagant.
“The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private and beautiful ceremony,” the couple posted on JanetJackson.com earlier today. “Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children’s charities. We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy. With love, Wissam and Janet.”
Janet and Wissam’s engagement was first reported in December of last year but she has yet to debut her engagement ring. And according to reports, there is a simple (well, not really) explanation — it’s much to massive and valuable to wear in public. “She’s afraid it will get lost, so she keeps it locked up!” Oh, rich people problems.
Janet and Wissam began dating in the summer of 2010, one year after Janet parted ways with her boyfriend Jermaine Dupri following seven years of dating. This is Janet’s third marriage.
So, what’s next for the newlyweds? “[Janet] wants kids,” a source tells Us Weekly. “If she can’t have them, she will adopt.”
