Texas couple welcomes two sets of identical twins on same day

Tressa Montalvo's babies

Tressa and Manuel Montalvo from the great state of Texas wanted their son to have a little sister. There was only one major problem with their plan, or should I say four, as Tressa delivered two sets of identical twins – all boys!

Momma Montalvo gave birth to quadruplets Ace, Blaine, Cash and Dylan on Valentine’s Day according to The Woman’s Hospital of Texas in Houston. The couple thought they were having twins but got the surprise of a lifetime when their doctor discovered a third fetal heartbeat. This doctor figured he better take it next level and called in a maternal fetal medicine specialist who found an additional fourth heartbeat.

Daddy Motalvo stated:

“We couldn’t have been more surprised when Dr. Kirshon told us we were having four babies and that they were two sets of twins. We were trying for one little brother or sister for our two-and-a-half year old son, Memphis.”

The simple hopes of one addition became an onslaught of four younger brothers for Memphis. The Montalvos have got themselves a basketball team! Ace and Blain shared one placenta, while Cash and Dylan shared another. The baby boys were delivered via C-section at 31 weeks with the new bundles of joy weighing between 2 pounds, 15 ounces and 3 pounds, 15 ounces. The delivery was said to be “complication free.”

As if this news wasn’t astounding enough, this happened without the assistance of any fertility drugs or in vitro fertilization.

Manuel told reporters he’s not done yet and that the family still wants a baby girl.
