More details on Kailyn Lowry’s altercations with Javi and Jo from Teen Mom 2 Season 4

Kailyn Lowry gets in a fight with Javi Marroquin in Teen Mom 2 Season 4 trailer

Kailyn Lowry usually appears pretty level-headed, but in the trailer for the upcoming season we see her in a screaming rage as she gets into a physical altercation with her then-boyfriend Javi Marroquin. However, as often is the case, reality isn’t always as it seems and according to eyewitnesses, Kailyn’s fight with Javi was a bit different than what fans are getting from the trailer.

In case you missed it:

In a new report by Ashley Majeski (from The Ashley’s Reality Roundup) for The Clicker, Kailyn’s friend Lex Lopez defends her and suggests that her actions weren’t quite as bad as they look in the Season 4 clip. “She never hit him,” Lex explained. “She pushed him out of frustration and was instantly sorry for her actions.”

“That day there were 14 people in Kail’s tiny house, including an eight-person camera crew. It was so hectic and Kail was very frustrated and she just lost it for a minute,” Lex said. “Javi forgave her that day, even though MTV tries to make it look like he leaves the house after the incident. In fact, he went outside to go help his parents fix Kail’s car.”

As Kailyn told Starcasm, the devastating fight led her to seek counseling, and from that, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which she is now being treated for. And of the fight, she also told Starcasm, “I just want to publicly apologize in advance to my fans, and even though Javi and I have moved on from it, I want to say I’m sorry again to him and his family for letting my emotions get the best of me. I know how humiliating that is for them and I’m humiliated myself.”

Kailyn Lowry crying

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only fight Kailyn got into while filming Season 4. She and her son Isaac’s father Jo Rivera also had a dispute, and in the trailer, she’s seen telling a friend, “I f**king hit him.” After the confrontation, Kailyn filed an order of protection against Jo, but later withdrew it.

“She snapped,” Jo told The Clicker. “I tried to push her away, but (nothing) more. (Her filing) the PFA was more of a way to get back at me than to protect herself.”

Regarding accusations that the footage was purposefully edited to imply domestic violence, an MTV spokesperson had the following statement:

“This is a docu-series and the scenes shown are accurate portrayals of each young woman’s story – the trailer includes a confrontation that took place between Kailyn and Javi, and shows her expressing her feelings about it. Viewers will see this event unfold later in the season.”

Teen Mom 2 season 4 debuts on February 18 at 10/9c on MTV.

sorry kail, being bipolar isn’t an excuse to hit people. i’ve never thought she was level headed, one look at her twitter and you can tell she’s so dramatic. chelsea is the one who keeps things off of social media.

    • Dani

Being bipolar doesn’t make it acceptable to put your hands on someone else out of anger. I have had many fits of rage from being bipolar, however I have never put my hands on someone else. No excuses, Kail.

      • http://www.facebook.com/maiko.higa.33 Maiko Higa

She’s not asking for excuses. She took responsibility. Getting help is not an excuse.

        • Dani

Getting help is not the excuse, using her diagnoses as an explanation for her abusive behavior is.

      • ThatOneGirl

I have bipolar disorder and I have had tendencies to hit things out of rage. Never hit people, not even if I wanted to. But, she isn’t using it as an excuse, especially since she admitted she knew what she did was wrong. People get angry for different reasons, and you never know, maybe her bipolar disorder could be Kail’s reason. Like I said, you never know. None of us see what goes on in these young ladies’ lives without the aid of cameras. Except Janelle, because she makes headlines everywhere for being a trainwreck.

Just throwing in my two cents…. I know these girls (obviously) need to be on some type of birth control, but I wonder if that is playing any role in their crazy emotions. I tried many different forms and they altered my mood so greatly that I too acted like a lunatic lol. Honestly, it would make me very quick to react with rage. I stay away from it now and my moods are 1000% back to normal.

      • tab

kail has a mirena IUD which is extremely low hormonal birth control.

it’s possible that BC plays a role for some of these girls, pills and the “shot” can really screw a person up.

    • Sara

She is “one of the more level headed”? Really? If that’s true, then I’m insane.

    • A.P.

She hits Jo and then she files a protection order? I am not sure I understand that logic. If he pushed her then okay, but if she also hit him then I don’t fully understand why she filed one and he didnt? I dunno. There must be more to the story that I’m not aware of..

    • Sweet Venom

I don’t know anything about being bipolar, but I just find it odd that she was diagnosed with it after ONE incident.

      • Courtney

I thought that too! People are so quick to “label” someone with bipolar and prescribe an immediate cure in the form of prescription meds! I think she just needs counseling because she obviously wasnt brought up in a normal home environment where she would have learned things like how to deal with her emotions!

    • Jenn

So if MTV airs this like they did Amber and Gary’s fight then it will be interesting to see if people make complaints and legal action is taken. I don’t care if she went got got help afterwards, what she did was domestic violence and is punishable by law.

      • anjealka

I am waiting to see what happens as well. I wonder if Kail talking about it and asking her fans for forgiveness and saying she got help is to make sure that viewers do not call on her.

      • tab

a fan asked that of her the other day on twitter and she said no charges were brought against her and won’t be. i think what kail did and what amber did were very different. amber hit gary repeatedly on several occasions and was always very verbally abusive. i’m not excusing what kail did, i just don’t think it’s the same as amber.

        • Jenn

Multiple times vs 1 time doesn’t make it any different. Domestic violence is domestic violence. Amber got in trouble from the one incident that MTV filmed and put on air. If Isaac wasn’t around then nothing with him will happen, but that doesn’t mean she can’t be charged with hitting Joe. Kail may say no charges were brought, but if someone watches it on TV and decides to make a call like they did with Amber charges can be brought. I honestly think that is why she is doing damage control and apologizing like no tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what happens, I honestly think if they can get Amber for it then Kail should face consequences as well.

        • Dani

She got in altercations both with Jo and Javi. So it isn’t considered domestic abuse as long as she never lays hands on the same person twice?

      • tiff

i agree. especially if it happened with isaac nearby, she should be charged.

    • burkey

I think that she is bipolar. If you really pay attention there’s plenty of times her mood seems to quickly switch to very angry. And she does seem to have quite a few ups and downs in her mood and behavior. I don’t think being bipolar or having any type of mental or emotional issues is an excuse for being violent but at the same time I don’t think Kail is trying to say “hey everyone I’m bipolar so the fact that I hit someone is okay”. She is obviously regretful over it and takes responsibility and apologizes for it so why does everyone think she is just using being bipolar as an excuse. Look back at Amber and Gary. THAT was an example of someone using her depression and drug issues as an excuse to hit Gary. She did not seem too ashamed of her actions and she could have REALLY hurt Gary considering after she had already hit him she then kicked him from behind while he was carrying a tv down the stairs. I don’t see how Kail is even close to the same.

      • http://www.facebook.com/maiko.higa.33 Maiko Higa

        I agree.

      • tiff

if you saw amber’s prison special, it’s clear that she is remorseful for her actions. i don’t think you can compare the two.. comparing apples to oranges really.

        • burkey

I agree that now after she got to clear her mind Amber is remorseful. i actually think Amber ultimately made a good decision in going to prison so yes maybe it wasn’t a fair comparison. I’m just trying to say that I don’t think Kail is an example of someone who thinks her mental health excuses undesirable behavior.

          • burkey

I also just meant back before Amber finally got help she seemed to use every excuse she could for hitting Gary

    • kay

Was the fight with Jo the same day then? In the scene where she pushes Javi she’s wearing the same shirt and hair when she says “I hit him”. That’s what made everyone think she was talking about what happened between her and Javi.

    • tab

i’ve lived with bipolar 1 disorder pretty much my entire life (i’m in my 30’s) and i’ve NEVER hit someone. being able to control your anger and your physical self is a separate issue. i’m glad she’s sought out help, but she’s clearly still very immature. she has a lot of learning and growing up to do.

    • nickynatty

is she bipolar or frustrated? it seems odd that her friend says it wasnt that big of a deal but now she has a dx of bipolar disorder…over it. she pushed him, they moved on, shes not bipolar.

    • andiecohenn

This girl goes to school full time, works, & raises a kid. At times she has worked 2 jobs. She has no family helping her, she really does not have a support system. What she did was wrong, but everyone has a breaking point & perhaps she had reached hers. She went to counseling to deal with things, so good for her.

      • Abrianna1234

        Totally agree.

      • redbird99

A lot of people have been in Kailyn’s position. That’s still no excuse for bad behavior. In my opinion. Kailyn’s main problem is that she is self-centered and she has major control issues. And her explosions are a result of being intolerant of situations not going her way. She need Therapy to help her understand that the world doesn’t revolve around her solely and to learn better coping and communications skills. Also. She needs to stay off Tweeter and Facebook until she can get her anger issues under control. Not à good mix.

    • Demona

What is sadder is everyone wanting to persecute her before it’s even aired – like Amber and yet I just watched the pilot of Gypsy Sisters (also reported on here) and I don’t see how any of those kids are expected to grow up well in that environment – fighting each other, not just cursing but constantly cursing, yelling, and having your child around addicts because the addict is family. It’s disgusting. Someone cry foul on that please!

    • Pat Brown

I’ve stated this before about Kail, she seems like a very troubled girl. She seems to find her self esteem in the ‘boys’ she becomes involved with. My predictionn is that in a few years or less, she will have had a string of new boys. As for bipolar, everyone to a certain extent is. Very overused word.

    • http://twitter.com/TwitNasty Jayson

So she is basically Amber Portwood with lower cholesterol

    • ameliaBedelia76

Kail is becomming more & more out of control. She think she can control Jo’s relationship. She is beyond jealous that JO is happy and in love with someone else. Now she is taking it out on javi…goodluck with that one.

    • Abby

I can’t stand her. She doesn’t want Jo’s girlfriend around their son but she can have her boy toys around him. She hits Jo, but puts the order against him.

    • jessica

atleast she got help and knew she was in the wrong that’s more then I can say for another teen mom amber good for her
