Jason Hoppy has filed his response to Bethenny Frankel’s divorce papers and by all accounts it looks like the split could be a contentious one.

What Hoppy is requesting is nearly a mirror image of what Frankel stated she wanted out of the settlement. Let’s break this down (via TMZ):

• Bethenny wants primary custody of their 2-year-old daughter Bryn. Jason is requesting the same.

• Bethenny wants Jason to pay for medical and dental insurance for herself and Bryn. Jason has requested the same from Bethenny.

• Bethenny wants Jason to maintain a life insurance policy on himself for her and Bryn’s benefit. Jason wants Bethenny to maintain a life insurance policy on herself for his and Bryn’s benefit.

• Bethenny wants “exclusive use and occupancy of the marital residence” – their $5 million NYC home. You guessed it, Jason is requesting the same.

When Frankel filed for divorce from Hoppy a source close to her stated, “This is a preliminary step to move the process forward. She wants to work this out privately and amicably. All Bethenny cares about is that it works out the best way possible for Bryn.”

Go Jason….you deserve it and more…there’s no way you should be paying her any support when you’re not making anything off her multi-million Beam deal that you assisted in coordinating.

Again, saying that she shouldn’t get anything is saying that a mother who is working and the dad isn’t shouldn’t be asking for support. On the other hand, this could all be split down the middle and is relatively easy. Each of them should have a life insurance policy taken out, listing either spouse as the beneficiary. They should get 50/50 custody and neither of them should pay child support. They should sell the home and split the assets equally or one should be ready to buy out the other. Neither of them should asking to pay for each other’s medical or dental insurance and instead carry their own for themselves and whoever gets the better deal, carry it for Bryn. Then they should have to split all medical bills after insurance, right down the middle. Is it that hard, really?

So sensible now why can’t these two people in their mid forties figure that out?
