VIDEO Farrah Abraham waxes 3-year-old daughter Sophia’s “unibrow” (with a few complications)

Reflections with Farrah Abraham - Sophia's unibrow

I mentioned in a previous post that I think one of my greatest guilty pleasures in 2013 is going to be reading former Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham’s postings on Sulia, which is a micro-blogging site that (unlike Twitter) allows unlimited characters and pays its writers per page view. I’m so enthralled with her entries, in fact, that I’ve created what I hope to be a recurring segment called “Reflections with Farrah” in which I share with you some of my favorite selections from her oeuvre.

Today’s entry is from Friday (I’m a little behind because I wanted to create that potential award-winning graphic above!) and is Farrah talking about how she dealt with her three-year-old daughter Sophia’s unibrow problem by busting out some wax in a do-it-yourself project that didn’t quite go as planned.

Ideally I would interject commentary, but I think to do that would just ruin the flow, not to mention defiling the work of an artist! So here is Farrah’s post in its entirety. I will withhold my reactions until after it is complete. (Cue: classical music) Enjoy today’s episode of…

REFLECTIONS WITH FARRAH

Sophia’s UNI-BROW , when is it time?

SOOOOOooooo, this is a touchy subject the Unibrow thing.

But recently I could not ignore it, like I know I’ve seen madonna’s duaghter have a stand out uni brow, I remember when I was little I had a unibrow, but I couldn’t remember if there was an age limit, a rule!

So here I am faced with a standout historical moment in motherhood when I can confirm to myself that my little, adorable, most cuddle-able cutie, baby girl has a Unibrow :( , I felt bad for her, and I started asking friends…. is this hair just going to fall out… is it just hormones at this age?, well the hair didn’t go away and others started saying it was here to stay.

So I told sophia (my daughter who is a late 3 years old) of the little issue on her brow, and I showed her how I waxed mine off, so I tryed to wax her, the second a dab hit the Uni, she touch it with the towel she had in her hand,

UHHH so now, wax was in the towel, and I yanked it back ASAP, but fuzz was not stuck to the wax stuck to her Uni, OMG moment, So now sophia was freaking out, so I had to act like it was a cool science project to get the wax off.

PLOT TO END THIS: Sophia feel a sleep, I got my tweezers and Pluck-pluck-pluck……soph was now saying ouch or anything and still was asleep, I got most of it off and then finally she woke up..I went to sleep .

The next morning I showed her and told her how well she did and she didn’t even know, She was more intrigued now to be ok with upkeeping her non-unibrow. I could tell she was proud.

Ah I feel like a good mom:) other moms tell me your ideas!

(Click here for Farrah’s original post on Sulia. Remember, it helps raise a few coins for Sophia!)

I’m not sure what to say.

My only thought is that perhaps this is just a marketing ploy for Farrah Abraham’s next children’s book, Unibrow Perfume:

Farrah Abraham Passy Perfume parody book cover Unibrow Perfume

Ah I feel like a good blogger :) other moms tell me your ideas!

UPDATE - Farrah Abraham defended her deunibrowification of Sophia in an appearance on Good Morning America:

“If I could help my daughter in a little way by just plucking a few hairs, I think I did something right,” she says.

What…. the….. f***?!?!? That poor baby girl. Wow. Is she teaching her now that it is not ok to have flaws? Because there will always be something people find wrong with themselves.

    • teddybear101

I could understand if Sophia was 11 but she is 3 year old .Why would her mother take hot wax to a little girl face. Because of stupid unibrow she is a kid who cares. Farrah is very shallow and she all about outer appearance and that’s fine if that what she want for her life. But to basically force her crazy ideas on to a 3 year old girl. Is just wrong and shame on you starcasm for making a joke out this situation. The hot wax could fell in Sophia eye or the wax could of burn Sophia. Giving her a second degree burn all for what so Farrah could feel better about Sophia stupid eyebrow. This was not for Sophia this was all about Farrah and her crazy need to look perfect to the world.

    • Katie

I seriously think this girl has something mentally wrong with her. Why in the HELL would she ever try to wax a 3 year old? Not only can that wax get super hot if you’re not careful, but it can tear your skin off if you have delicate skin. You can tell Farrah only cares about outer beauty and that’s it. Poor baby girl.

      • W-Blog

Personally, I think it is far worse/more cruel to pierce baby ears or even circumcize baby boys without anasthetics for religious reasons – and probably nobody of the posters does call CPS on these people… So, although I think that it was not a smart idea of Farrah, people should not overreact – save it for real cruelty.

        • Ash

Nevermind the message she’s relaying to her daughter.. No one even mentioned piercing ears or circumcision. Get over yourself.

          • W-Blog

Ash, you apparently just don’t get it! It is sad that removing some eyebrow hairs (which most likely won’t kill anyone) leads to such dramatic overreactions by people who probably don’t care about worse stuff happening right around them = double standards. Question your priorities.

    • Notafarrahlover

I would have NEVER waxed my toddler, or told her of her so-called problem. Way to boost her self confidence Farrah! And while I’m on a Farrah busting roll- will this girl learn to at least use spell check. (You really shouldn’t ignore the green underline squiggles. Hint: they indicate grammatical errors).

    • michele

Way to start her off early with an image complex and self esteem issues. Farrah is about as shallow as it gets.

      • Bobbi-Jo

I agree totally. That poor baby girl! It breaks my heart.

      • sammi

Farrah is as deep as a capful of water. I can see her being one of those women that looks like the cat lady lol, with the skin on her face pulled back so tight and often from facelifts she can barely open her eyes.

    • A.Fitch

Wow, that’s great parenting. She’s making her daughter just as shallow as she is!!

    • Nicole

First of all, really Farrah? You self-centered, egotistical b*tch. How dare you do that to your precious daughter. She is a TODDLER. It should not matter if she has a “uni-brow” all children are beautiful. And as someone who has been waxing/tweezing their eyebrows for many years…I do NOT believe Sophia didn’t wake up while you were yanking hairs out of her head! SO DISGUSTING.

      • W-Blog

Come on, people allover the US let their baby boys be circumsized, thus removing permanently a part of their PERFECT baby boys body. The skin has functions (e.g. protection) and in some cases severe complications can arise from the procedure (e.g. severe infections, even death).

        • DeeDeDee

Yes, and in a lot of cases, leaving that skin with a parent who does not even “clean what can be seen” can cause infections that lead to UTIs and even infertility. Circumcision is a private decision that is not just a cosmetic issue. A unibrow IS.

          • UKGAL

Circumcision is ENTIRELY cosmetic when performed at birth! In the UK only 16% of males aged 16-24 are circumcised. There sure isn’t a random spike in UTI’s or other infections in infant males here. Not to mention the majority of sensitive nerve endings for sexual pleasure are in the foreskin!

            • DeeDeDee

@Guest- that also depends on the education that you have there. If your pediatricians educate against circumcision and the plus sides to it, and the risk of not cleaning around the foreskin, then of course you guys aren’t going to have a spike in it. But here, in America, there are very small groups of people educated against circumcision.

          • W-Blog

I think, we clearly disagree on who should have the right to decide about the permanent alteration of someone elses body. Circumcision can also have pretty severe side effects (physical and psychological). Better education of parents about hygiene can also be an effective measure to prevent infections.

            • DeeDeDee

That’s what I’m saying. Majority of parents don’t even think to care about cleaning around the foreskin, and those are the parents whose children tend to get infections constantly when the foreskin is left intact. I’m sure those that are actually educated on the subject and do their research and choose to leave their child intact also have a lesser chance of infection.

        • sammi

Yea but circumsions also are hygenic I thought. They prevent hygeine issues for men

          • DeeDeDee

They do. BUT as long as you teach your child good hygiene and practice good hygiene with them yourself, then a circumcision is unnecessary. My husbands grand father had the joy of getting a circumcision when he was 82 and put in a nursing home because the nurses had no desire to clean inside the foreskin.

    • Honeybear

She just wants to be controversial so that we go look at her page so she gets paid. I don’t THANK so. *calls CPS*

    • awoman

I’m so glad that teaching her early to be self conscious makes you “feel like a good mom”.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1205651842 Susan Newman

      this is horrifying.

    • mary

my 8 year old asks for her eye brows to be fixed not cause i told her of her “flaw” but because she noticed on her own girls are meaner then when i was a kid and yes i pluck her eye brows if she asks she finds it relaxing her words

    • HoardersFan

      Child abuse?

    • micro OP

I like how Farah pretended she consulted friends, when we all know she doesn’t have any.

    • Kelly

Poor Sophia. This child doesn’t stand a chance with Farrah as her mother.

    • Star

Wow! Lets put hot wax on a three year old, NEAR HER EYES and see how that works out.
F*cking MORON! How does she still have custody? She cares more about dating then her own kid.

    • Ace

Please do not click on her Sulia stuff and fund her stupidity. Also, am I the only one who had never noticed this ‘unibrow’ in all her episodes and photos of her?

    • Mickey

There is NO WAY a 3 year old slept through that. Bad Farrah! Shame on you for torturing your daughter! Poor baby doesn’t stand a chance in hell

    • Bobbi-Jo

Since when do child abusers brag on the internet (and apparently paid to do so!) What the hell is this world coming too?And where is Dr. Drew while this is going on? Farrah not only are you abusive to your parents but now Sophia too? You don’t deserve either of them, you’re selfish. Prediction for your future….Sophia will be gone the minute she turns 18. You are (before she is even 5) telling her she isn’t beautiful. Mom of th year!

    • Drea

“I feel like a good mom”. WOW. Inflicting pain on your 3 year old in order to instill a good sense of shame, self-consciousness and narcissism. Maybe next she’ll write about teaching her to throw up if she’s feeling fat that day. Good mom.

    • http://twitter.com/TwitNasty Jayson

If Farrah were on cocaine I could understand some of her behavior. If she is sober she needs real mental help

      • Sarah

You always have good comments Jayson!

    • Sarah

Yes…..this child is definitely headed for having an eating disorder or body image issues of some kind—so horrible to see a mother mentally messing up a kid right before our very own eyes. The few things I have read online that her parents have written about Farrah have always been in support of Farrah and her behavior…I am wondering if this latest act will finally help her parents to wake up and have some less “denial based” view of Farrah’s behaviors/ overall mental health. Doubt it though as Farrah seems to have them totally under her own control….

    • ave

OMG Farrah she is a baby let her enjoy her childhood you have so many issues that you are making Sophia deal with your self esteem issues. What if she has a unibrow she is your loving child isn’t she? so you should love her the way she is no matter of her unibrow so if she gain a few pounds are you going to make her go on a diet at 3? really Farrah you parenting skills are really really stupid.

    • Fabiolaaa

      Is this girl stupid?

    • LaDy

      Idiot.

    • http://twitter.com/toni_ROTTEN Bebe

I’ll be completely honest and say unibrows on kids are the worst! My husband’s young cousin went from looking like an adorable little pageant queen at 5, to a small Ukrainian woman at 7 or 8 when her two brows became one. Its unsightly. I don’t have kids, so I can freely admit that not all children are beautiful all the dang time!

    • sammi

What does she mean Sophia handled it well. She was sleep you dingbat! The poor thing didnt even know what was happening. She probably felt the pain and just thought she was dreaming. She didnt have a single clue what was going on. Farrah is seriously on a whole ‘nother level. Adult women dont even like to wax and sometimes feel pain, so what made her think its ok to wax a 3 year olds delicate skin and hair on their body. Whats next, a bikini wax at the first sign of puberty. Farrah needs to be hit in the face with a pie.

    • Ashley

Sounds like Farrah is taking parenting tips from the “Toddlers and Tiara’s” crew.

    • MelliD

Kids are cruel. Worse then when I was a kid, so I understand the her intentions. For the sake of Sophia’s feelings, but when she sister want to do it anymore that’s where it should have stopped. I was a teen mom as well and my daughter had a unibrow. It was actually my mom who took her somewhere to get it waxed and I was furious. One because I’m a cosmetologist and I could have done it myself and two because she was far to young. Their skin is too sensitive and it can cause nerve damage and the I had to keep it up because it looked so bad when it was growing back. I ended up buying a women’s facial razor and just using that. Now that she’s 13 we wax, and it’s her decision.

    • ocbeach

What about Farrah with her horrible cosmetic surgery. Did she purposely planned on looking like a horse?

    • Trish

My daughter is 10 almost 11 and asked me to tweeze her unibrow only because a couple people made comments to her about it so I did. But never would I when she was 3! Im sorry but why in the hell would you point that out to her?! Let a 3 year old be a happy 3 year old!!
