Jenna Bush announces pregnancy on the 'TODAY Show'

George Bush is going to be a grandfather! His daughter, Jenna Bush, and her husband Henry Hager are expecting their first child this spring. Jenna and Henry announced the news on this morning’s TODAY Show along with President Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush who called in during the interview.

“I’m pregnant!” Jenna told hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. “We’re so excited and obviously nervous about it. I’m a first-time mom. But it’s something that I’ve always wanted. I’m a teacher and I love kids.” Husband Henry, who arrived on set with a bouquet of flowers for his wife added, “It’s a springtime baby.”

When the soon-to-be grandparents called into the show, the excitement was clear in their voices. Laura explained, “I’m thrilled!” and President Bush added, “I’m fired up!”

President Bush has been dying to get his chance at being a grandparent for years and back in 2010, he told AARP Magazine, “I’m a little disappointed it hasn’t happened yet. But the more disappointment I show, the less likely it is things are going to happen on the time table I want.”

Jenna, who was recently named an Editor-at-Large at Southern Living magazine, married Henry in 2008 at her parent’s 1,600-acre ranch in Texas after meeting in 2004 while campaigning for Jenna’s dad.
