It’s been a year since Demi Moore (49) publicly stated she wanted to end her marriage to Ashton Kutcher (34) after multiple cheating scandals. Since then, Demi has been to rehab after suffering a medical emergency, and Ashton has moved on with his former That 70s Show co-star Mila Kunis. Even so, neither party has filed for divorce yet. What’s taking so long?
The answer? Money, money, money. The New York Post reported that Ashton made a much bigger pile of cash than Demi during their last years together, and he doesn’t want to have to pay out a large settlement. Last year Ashton made $24 million, mostly from his Two and a Half Men gig.
A source confirme to People Magazine that the delay was related to finances: “Ashton made a lot of wise investments. And while he wants [a settlement] to be fair, he will stick to his guns about what is his. He’s shrewd about money. He wants it over.”
They’re trying to work this out privately, but if they can’t work out a deal soon, they might have to face a public legal battle.
UPDATE: According to Radar Online, although Ashton is reportedly willing to settle monetarily to get the divorce started, Demi is supposedly intentionally dragging her heels because she’s upset over his romance with Mila Kunis.
