According to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe and wife of 9 years, Danielle Spencer, have split.
Crowe, 48, and Spencer, 43, were married in April, 2003. According to the Herald their separation comes after a rocky summer in which rumors of infidelity swirled around the two in their home country of Australia.
Back in June Spencer was photographed out at a casino with her dancing partner from her participation in the Down Under version of Dancing With the Stars. The pics showed those two with their arms around each other. Shortly after, Crowe made an extremely rare show of public affection while greeting Spencer at an airport. Many speculated that this act was just for show in an attempt to cover up the problems in their marriage.
Crowe and Spencer have 2 sons together ages 8 and 6. These reports indicate that the split is amicable and that the two are focusing first and foremost on the well-being of their children.
PEOPLE is usually the go-to source for official statements from reps for famous actors in these matters and as of this post there has been no reply for the publication’s request for a comment.
Russell is working on the film Noah, a biblical epic co-starring Emma Watson.
