Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong checks into rehab after iHeartRadio Festival meltdown

Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong has checked himself into rehab two days after having a meltdown on stage during the band’s performance at the 2012 iHeartRadio Music Festival. The band’s rep tells TMZ, “Green day wants to apologize to those they offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.”

Armstrong was admitted for “substance abuse,” with no further details about what kind of substance available at this time. “The band regretfully must postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances,” the rep adds.

During Green Day’s Friday night performance Armstrong launched into a profanity-laden tirade after the band’s set was reportedly cut short (though that fact has since been disputed) in which he famously declared, “I’m not f***ing Justin Bieber, you motherf***ers!” Here is a video clip of the meltdown followed by the full f-bombathon:

Im not impressed and I love green day. Hope he gets help for whatever he needs help for, it’ll do good for his career IMO and not give green day a bad name. Idc if anyone disagrees, im not impressed with his petty rant and no, im not a huge fan of justin bieber btw.

I think he had every right to be upset, the band was scheduled to perform for 45 minutes but then were told to get off after 25 so that Usher could have more time. Not right at all

i kind of see where his rant came from… i mean, what has rihanna REALLY done besides be the abuse victim of chris brown. I don’t like green day, but they’ve written arguably the greatest album of the past few generations (michael jackson’s “thriller” and guns’n'roses “appetite for destruction”). rhianna’s music is like a hallmark card, nice but not memorable.
