Derek Underwood’s mom upset about Farrah Abraham’s portrayal of her late son

One of the story lines that has continued throughout Farrah Abraham’s run on Teen Mom is the stormy, or better said non-existent, relationship with Derek Underwood’s mother, Stormie Clark.

While Farrah pined that in spite of her and Sophia’s late father’s tumultuous relationship, she hoped back then that they might end up together. Since that time some of Farrah’s comments about Derek have been critical and Stormie hasn’t been too keen about that. In the latest edition of OK! she said:

“Derek loved Farrah. He would have never laid a hand on her. They argued just like any normal teenage couple, but he was not the person that she is portraying him to be.”

Clark has (almost entirely) been prevented from seeing or being a part of Sophia’s life. In the article it says that: “Stormie says she has never met her granddaughter Sophia.” Well, that’s just not true. Back in November of 2010 we ran an article featuring the only known photo at the time of Stormie with Sophia. She had told Star:

“It was like a blessing from God. I couldn’t help but cry. When I held Sophia, she never cried or wanted to get down. To me, it was like she knew that we were her family. She was acting like we had been in her life forever. I said to her, ‘Hi, I’m your Grandma. Grandma loves you.’”

As for the rest of the stories from the issue, man I ain’t even goin’ there! How ’bout the TMs dwarfing Katie Holmes, Jennifer Aniston, and Kimye though?

Honestly it’s sad that Derek died, but I have a feeling if Farrah had let his mum and his other family stay a part of Sophia’s life then the fighting between them would have been ridiculous, ESP with Debra. There’s clearly bad blood there from before Derek passed or Sophia was even born, so to save Sophia from the crap I can see why Farrah kept her distance. I am NO fan of Farrah but I can’t deny her the fact that she is a good parent

I caught an early TM episode, and remember Stormie had fought Farrah on getting social security money for Sophia by saying that Derek never acknowledge Sophia as his to his mother……and the in the next episode, she was serving Farrah with papers over grandparents’ rights. So I see Farrah’s point there…. Stormie seems like a nut. Where was she after the 16 & Preg episode aired, where Farrah let him be bashed like crazy???? I didn’t notice anyone saying anything about him recently.

  In her book, Farrah admits that she told Derek’s family that the baby wasn’t his right after he died. So of course Stormie is going to challenge the paternity before Sophia could get Derek’s social security benefits.

I don’t like ferrah but I haven’t seen her portray Derek in any bad way, if anything u can tell she loved him and still deals with his death, and as for his mom I think she wants her 5 mins of fame and she uses his death as an excuse to do it I don’t think derek would like that very much.

Ugh you people are so ill-informed. Stormie is not referring to the show. She is referring to the fact that Farrah painted Derek as this drug using, alcohol abusing, mean person in her dumb book. I agree Stormie is nuts, but if someone talked about my son the way Farrah did, I would be furious. Farrah is a little b**ch

the shows are all scripted and fake! I think the very first 16 and prego was real, because when that particular show was filmed it wasn’t on the air yet, but after any of these were aired, it s all fake. They even tweeted’ Filming’, if it were real, they wouldn’t pay attention to when a camera crew was there, it’s completely fake, and everyone made big money being on the shows, how is any of this showing the perils of raising babies with little or no money? They all had money after it aired, MTV made them famous and stars, I have a feeling since the gravey train stopped now for them, they will all start to talk for money. THey got used to making big money, new cars, houses, and they couldn’t talk about how fake it all was, and how much money they were making,now that that their contracts are over, and there is no money, they will be selling the behind the scenes stories to the highest bidders, that’s the word on the curb anyway.

Too bad she isn’t showing a lot of love to her granddaughter. Sporatic visits will do nothing. Sophia needs all of the love and support she can get from BOTH families. It breaks my heart that only her maternal side of the family seems to care. If I had a granddaughter I guarantee there were be current pictures of us together. NO EXCUSES!

  Have you even seen the show? Farrah forbade Derek’s family from being a part of Sophia’s life. They have even gone to court requesting permission to be able to see their granddaughter, to no avail.

If I were Stormie I’d be pissed too! Farrah runs her mouth however she can, whenever she can, about Derek. “I think he would have made a good father”, yet she NEVER even told him she was pregnant even though she had MULTIPLE opportunities!

I’ve always thought that Farrah seems very back and forth about their relationship. She didn’t want him to know about Sophia but now that he’s dead she can’t shut up about him. Regardless of her own feelings, I hope Farrah doesn’t bash his family in front of Sophia because one day she will be old enough to decide for herself if she wants them in her life.

Its coompletely 1,000 % selfish for Farrah to keep Sophia away from her paternal family. It doesnt matter what went on between Derrick and her, he is gone and his family deserves to know his offsping. This is the only link they have to their departed love one. God will not bless Farrah for being this way. One day Sophia is going to be old enough to ask about him and his family, and better yet his family will reach out to her when she is old enough to not have Farrah control who contacts her and who doesnt. Sophia will probably be shocked to learn that her mother purposely kept her away from her late fathers family. Farrah doesnt have to say 2 words to them, all she had to do was meet them somewhere or bring Sophia to their home for a few visits until she warms up to them. That in itself would seem uncomfortable for Sophia cause she has no idea who they are thanks to her mom and Farrah is to pigheaded and selfish to bury the hatchet and come together as one for the sake of Sophia and Derricks memory. I cant imagine how this woman feels, her son is gone, had a daughter with a demon, and not allowed to see her granddaughter.

Everyone go back and watch her 16&preg episode. That guy was crazy. The very beginning of the show he called her and started asking if she was pregnant and then immediately started screaming at her and telling her if she was seeing another guy he would never look at her or speak to her again. He apparently did this type of thing enough that she had to change her number.
I’m not saying that means she should keep sophia from his family, but that kid had problems.
