Avril Lavigne engaged to Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger

Avril Lavigne is going to marry Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.

Avril’s long-term relationship with Brody Jenner ended this January, and she met Chad Kroeger soon after when they collaborated on a song for her upcoming album.

A friend told People “A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together. He makes her so happy. Both of their families could not be more excited.”

Kroeger popped the question August 8 with a 14-karat ring. Nickelback’s Twitter account tweeted: “Congratulations Avril and Chad!” Nickelback is about to start a tour for their latest album Here and Now.

Avril was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley (they divorced in 2009.) Chad has never been married.

There was a rumor going around that Avril was dating Marilyn Manson this year (or at least hooking up with them.) Marilyn responded with an emphatic: “What the f**k is that – she’s Canadian, I wouldn’t do that. No offense to Canada.”
