The past couple months have been an all out media blitz from Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham, who seems bound and determined to hit the ground running when the fourth and final season of the show comes to an end in a couple weeks. In addition to her line of Mom & Me food products that officially launched in early July, Farrah finally released her memoir My Teenage Dream Ended as well as an accompanying musical soundtrack.

Her first single, “Finally Getting Up From Rock Bottom,” caused quite the stir when it hit the internet last week, and now Farrah has released her second single from the album titled “On My Own” with a homemade music video!

The video features Farrah and her daughter Sophia — first playing on a swing, then footage of the two of them at the grave site of Sophia’s father Derek Underwood, and finally the two of them walking towards the horizon on a sidewalk.

The song is based on the “On My Own” chapter in Farrah’s book just after she found out she was pregnant. She had just broken things off with Derek Underwood and after yet another acrimonious phone conversation with him, Farrah decided she wasn’t going to tell him about the baby.

The chapter includes what to me was the crux of the entire book, which was mostly about Farrah’s relationship with Derek Underwood and the effects his tragic death in a car accident before Sophia was born has had on her and Sophia’s life since:

Looking back, I can’t help but question whether or not I made the right choice. Of course, if I had known he was going to die I would have told him about the baby — even if he was still partying and treating me badly. I would have taken whatever I could get. But these are the questions that haunt me: Would he have changed? Would he have still gone on hooking up with other girls, doing drugs, and drinking? Would he have been fighting and arguing all the time because I didn’t agree with the choices he was making?

Would he have died anyway?

Ok I get this. It is her anger/sadness about being a single parent. How is there not enough money in the budget though? MTV pays very well. Plus her parents are very supportive. This whole spoken word thing is definitely creative to say the least.

I’m torn between feeling sad for her (mostly Sophia) and not buying this act at all. Her story seems to keep changing. In her 16 & Preg episode, he was jealous and controlling and overall, obsessed. She’s come out and said, her parents disapproved of them being together because they caught them having sex in her bedroom (more than once). NOW its because HE was the drug addict? (“Would he have still gone on hooking up with other girls, doing drugs, and drinking? Would he have been fighting and arguing all the time because I didn’t agree with the choices he was making?”) I mean, come on. First off, that’s your kid’s father… and he has parents of his own and she’s putting this out there, and (AGAIN) tarnishing his name forever? I think she just wants to sell books. She wants to tell some “juicy”, behind-the-scenes story to 1. make as much money off this show as she can and 2. try to excuse her terrible behavior. FAIL.

What’s with the weird sounding voice thing? She can’t afford an auto tune machine? She sounds like she could carry a tune but with the voice distorter going on you can’t really tell. Farrah just stick to what you know and stop venturing out into things you can’t do.

I agreed with you @realitycheck Derek has family and friends I wonder how they all feel about this book. And what Farrah has been saying about him he is no longer here to defend himself. And the moment when his family try too speak out you have the Farrah army ready to attack them.

It is NOT my taste in “music” BUT I think what Farrah is doing with the book, music, tomato sauce, etc is very smart. She is really thinking and trying to get what she can from the exposure she has from the show while she has it. Smart girl.

First off what the heck was that? The words are good enough to be recited as a poem but that song just made me wanna vomit and I was crying laughing. When she ridiculed poor Demi Lovato for singing about her eating disorder and said she’s been “through way more than vomiting after every meal” I lost respect for her. But she just barked [not sang] about the bull that she inflicted on herself. This ‘Teen Mom’ cast member status went too far into her bird sized brain.

I agree with the sentiment that he has family and friends. Not to mention Sophia. I was reading the reviews and apparently she goes as far as to describe his penis the first time they had sex. Do you really think it’s fair to disrespect his privacy like that, especially considering he isn’t here to defend himself. I hate that she’s making money off of exploiting this guys death. Apparently the book is all about their relationship. It would be one thing if it was about her life, and he would be a heavy role in it. But apparently the whole thing is about their relationship. Not ok.

This is just bizarre. I can’t take her seriously at all but she obviously takes herself very seriously and someone needs to give this girl a reality check. She should spend her time more productively like by working on not treating her parents so horribly or getting that paci out of Sophia’s little mouth! This music thing is a disaster.

There is absolutely no structure to her music at all.. no timing, lyric flow, rhythm, nothing. She basically recorded herself while talking into a fan.
