We have new World Record holders for shortest celebrity marriage! Reality show stalwarts Evelyn Lozada and Chad Johnson Ochocinco Johnson have made it official after Evelyn filed for divorce in Broward County, Florida earlier today, only 41 days after the couple got married on July 4th in St. Maarten. Although the divorce has yet to be finalized, they are clearly on record pace in their bid to beat out Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ infamous 72-day lifelong commitment.

Basketball Wives star Lozada stated the couple’s marriage was “irretrievably broken” in the filing, which came just days after she and husband Chad Johnson were involved in a physical altercation in which he allegedly head-butted Lozada, which lead to his arrest for domestic violence.

Chad took to his OCNN (OchoCinco News Network) website earlier today and issued this apology / statement:

I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death. I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life.

Chad mentions pursuing “another opportunity in the NFL” because the day after his arrest made headlines, the Miami Dolphins released the former All-Pro wide receiver.

But perhaps more devastating to Chad (and Evelyn) than losing his NFL job was VH1’s announcement yesterday that they were pulling the couple’s reality show, titled Ev & Ocho, originally scheduled to premiere in September.

Never one to back away from finding the humor in any situation, Chad changed his Twitter profile image to this:
