Teen Mom Farrah Abraham’s much-anticipated memoir My Teenage Dream Ended was released today, and in it Farrah recounts her relationship with her daughter Sophia’s deceased father Derek Underwood in great detail, as well as how much her parents disapproved of him.
According to the book, Farrah would often give Derek a “booty call” after which he would arrive at her house and signal her by throwing things at her bedroom window. If the coast was clear, Farrah would sneak Derek into the house and the two would engage in sexual activity before falling asleep together. Farrah would then wake up Derek the next morning before her parents awoke and sneak him out. That went on a LOT of times, right up until they got caught.

The incident occurred while Farrah Abraham’s mom, Debra Danielsen, was out of town for work. Farrah had told Derek to call around 9:00pm and she would let him know if the “coast was clear” with her dad, Michael Abraham. When Derek called, he was outside the house. Farrah checked to make sure her dad was asleep before letting Derek in, and the two rushed upstairs to her bedroom.
Farrah and Derek were in her room talking and watching TV and “generally having fun” when Derek decided he wanted to “mix things up.” He suggested that they have sex in Farrah’s sister Ashley’s bedroom down the hall. (Farrah makes it clear Ashley wasn’t home at the time.)
We went to her room and had sex on the bed for a good hour. At one point Derek was on top of me and I looked up at him and noticed a light a little bit to the side of his head, but off in the distance. I was about to say, “What is that?” but before I had a chance, Derek flew off of me and the overhead light turned on. I grabbed two big pillows to cover my naked body and looked up to see my dad. He was as angry as I have ever seen him.
I was in shock and all I could bring myself to say was, “Michael what are you doing? Get out of here!”
My dad didn’t answer. He wasn’t going anywhere.
Derek stood naked beside the bed as Michael said, “Get dressed, Derek, and come downstairs. We’re going to call your mom.”
Derek put his clothes back on and went downstairs to meet Michael. Farrah was worried that her presence would only make matters worse, so she went to sleep.
Later, Farrah’s mom and dad talked on the phone and decided Farrah would need to go live with her grandmother for a while. Farrah was pretty upset about that decision, as I’m sure you can imagine. (Did I mention they were taking her cell phone away?) But Farrah’s anger was tempered a bit when Debra returned home and the three of them sat down at the dining room table to discuss it. Michael revealed, “Derek and his mom [Stormie Clark] went to the police station and filed a report. They’re pressing charges against me for hitting Derek.”
Farrah was in shock because she didn’t even know there had been physical contact between the two of them, and her father had said nothing to her about it the next day.
The book didn’t reveal what happened after that (aside from a brief conversation with Derek in which she made him promise he wouldn’t go out while she stayed with her grandma), but that wasn’t the last Derek sneak-in gone awry.
Farrah was five months pregnant and she and Derek were on one of their extended break up periods when Farrah got word that MTV was going to pick up 16 and Pregnant. (Until that point the crews had been filming her, but it still wasn’t certain that it would ever air.) Farrah had just quit the cheerleading squad, which she realized was just “a culture dominated by bitchy immature girls, obsessing over boys, causing fights, and acting cool.”

That night Farrah decided to throw out a lot of old high school photos and other things that reminded her of high school when she ran across a pair od Derek Underwood’s swim goggles and some photos he had given her. Farrah called him and told him to come and get his stuff. (She was honest enough to admit the real reason for the call, stating, “I could have just thrown it away, but honestly, I just wanted an excuse to see Derek. It had been a while and I missed him so much.”)
Derek agreed to come over, and Farrah once again snuck him up to her room as her mom and dad were downstairs in the back of the house. Farrah handed Derek his stuff, but he told her he didn’t want it and she could just throw it away. “Fine, I will,” Farrah responded.
The retort was meant to anger Derek, but instead of escalating the confrontation (which was the usual), Derek leaned in and kissed Farrah. “It was like a jolt of electricity running through my body,” Farrah writes. “I knew this was completely wrong. I should have pushed him away and told him to get out. But I was lonely and weak. I knew Derek wanted to have sex and I thought, Im already pregnant, so I have nothing to lose. I can’ get more pregnant.”
Just before giving in to her desire, Farrah’s dad walked in. Derek and Farrah separated and went to separate sides of the bed. “I looked at my dad and it was like he had snapped,” Farrah recalls. “He had this crazy-eyed look, and he was holding a knife in his hand.”
Can you imagine!?! A crazy-eyed Michael Abraham standing in the doorway with a knife!
“I was freaking out,” Farrah continues. “I thought, I’m pregnant and my dad is holding a knife and threatening my baby’s daddy and now there is no chance of us ever getting back together.” She then said to her dad, “Michael, what are you doing with a knife?”
Derek and Michael then both called the police. Officers arrived minutes later and both Michael and Derek gave their varied accounts of what had happened — Michael claiming to have walked in on the two having sex and Derek claiming he had just come over to watch a movie. Farrah then gave police her side of the story. In the end, because Michael was holding a knife, they arrested him and took him to jail!
Amazingly, Farrah’s mom Debra had slept through all of this! Michael called Farrah approximately fifteen minutes later and told Farrah to get Debra to come bail him out of jail. But, Debra refused! Farrah writes that she assumed her mom and dad were “probably in a fight.” (Wow!)
Farrah then called Derek and told him he should pay her dad’s bail. “I felt this was really all his fault for trying to have sex with me in my house again. On the phone he sounded like he understood,” Farrah recalls.
But Farrah didn’t hear from Derek the next day, and he wasn’t there to pick her up from school. Farrah was enraged and eventually convinced him to come pick her up. As punishment for refusing to pay her dad’s bail, Farrah made him take her to a drug store and buy her some expensive makeup.
When Farrah got home, Michael was there to greet her — after being forced to call a friend to bail him out. He wanted to know who brought Farrah home, suspicious that it was probably Derek. “I figured this was not the right time to be honest,” Farrah writes. “It definitely wouldn’t go over well if I said, ‘I made Derek come and get me from school because I wanted him to help me bail you out. But he wouldn’t, so I made him buy me makeup instead and then he drove me home.’”
Farrah later states that Derek’s mother, Stormie Clark, insisted on pressing charges, but there is no more information.
This arrest of one of Farrah’s parents holding a knife preceded the more famous arrest of one of Farrah’s parents holding a knife, that of her mom Debra Danielsen. Debra was arrested in January of 2010 after an altercation with Farrah. When police arrived later, Debra made the mistake of answering the door with two knives in her hand (she had been cooking in the kitchen), which led to one of the officers drawing his firearm and insisting that she drop them. Debra froze like a deer in the headlights but eventually snapped out of it and dropped the knives before things escalated further.
