Here’s an audio glimpse of what parents all over the planet are going to have to listen to for the next 3 or 4 years – it’s the new, “more mature” Miley Cyrus in her brand new music video for “Party In the USA” from her new album The Time Of Our Lives.
The song is basically about the stress of being surrounded by lots of famous people after first arriving in Hollywood and how hearing Britney Spears on the radio will enable you to pump your fist in the air and know that “everything’s gonna be OK.” Miley seems to be maturing at a very slow rate.
I was hoping this would have a more adult sound and melody, but it still has that Disney-fied chorus as well as instrumentation that sounds like it was created with a software program. I actually winced. They’ve attempted to lure in an older audience by starting off with a Red Hot Chili Peppers riff and later paying homage to Bruce Springsteen, but it’s not enough. Waaaaaay not enough. I’ll give Miley another shot in 3 to 4 years. After all, she is a big Radiohead fan, right?
