Farrah Abraham’s dad Michael responds to her drug use and suicidal thoughts after Derek’s death

Teen Mom Farrah Abraham's father Michael Abraham

Yesterday Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham shared some rather dark revelations from her soon-to-be-released book My Teenage Dream Ended, including that she plotted out her suicide and turned to drugs like marijuana and cocaine to help deal with the death of Derek Underwood, her daughter Sophia’s father. The admissions by Farrah made headlines around the web yesterday, and now her father, Michael Abraham, has taken to Facebook to share his reaction:

Our family has always supported Farrah and Sophia with love and hope…even during the most trying times, just as Farrah has done for family members in the past that were going through negative times. I will say this… yes I am not a perfect father…and I wish I could have did many things differently that might have made things work out better for my daughter … but my prayers have been answered seeing how Farrah took the responsibility and steps to insure that she has been and is there for Sophia. Sophia lost one parent and I am grateful to God that HE has guided us so Sophia has her mother. My hope is that the haters and judgmental people that have taken shots at us will at least make an attempt to understand what Farrah has and continues to work through. Yes she might have been kinder and more respective of people around her….but those of us that love her and Sophia understand and continue to work with Farrah with understanding and forgiveness. Forgiveness is a great healer. Our family will continue to heal.

Wonderful words from an obviously very caring father.

Farrah’s book is scheduled to be released August 14 — you can preorder your copy now on amazon.com:

farrah is a bitch straight up she has good looks but it gets all fucking ruined when she cops her nasty ass attitude!

Farrah does not seem like a nice person or respectful to anyone (and will sadly teach her daughter those bad habits), but she does seem to have stepped up to be a better parent to Sophia than she was at first. It may be that she’s not out partying all the time because she doesn’t have any friends, but at least she does appear to spend a lot of time with Sophia and care for her!

I wish farah’s dad was my dad too my life would of been way better i dont know how she can treat a kind man so bad i hope she learns to respect and love him more

there is a fine line between support and enabling.

its one thing to be depressed and wanting to kill yourself and its another to lash out at people because youre so effin depressed and frustrated with your life. there are other ways of dealing with frustration and depression, other than disrespecting the very people who are trying to help you out of that hole!! this is where i disagree with her parents. this young woman shouldve gone to therapy a very long time ago and got some new mechanisms of how to deal with all that negativity. instead, theyre teaching her that its ok to treat people like sh*t just because youre depressed. its not, most people wouldnt put up with that behaviour. now she’ll have to learn that lesson the hard way…

i hope her daughter grows up to be more respectful of her elders than this woman is of hers.

Agreed with you oh dear that’s what I been saying. But I get chew out by farrah army depressed is one thing but to abuse people around you. Is not okay and that’s why Farrah is the way she is because they both enable her behavior. And sadly Sophia is going to grow up to be rude and disrespect adult hopeful. Sophia grows up to be respectful and not like her mother
