Gretchen Rossi debuted her latest single, “Unbreakable,” on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM morning show earlier today — and this isn’t your average Housewife’s single. “Unbreakable” has a story behind it and the title even has ties to the Real Housewives of Orange County season 7 finale.
Gretchen’s inspiration for the song? Slade’s 12-year-old son Grayson! “It just really inspired me to write a song about this kid being so young, and dealing with so much, and being unbreakable despite the fact,” she told Ryan. Grayson has been battling brain cancer since he was just 6.
So how does the song tie into the finale? As you may remember, Tamra presented a bracelet to Gretchen at the beginning of the season with a key on it which she told her was “to lock up the past and open up our future.” The two had not been friends in previous season and vowed to but the past behind them and move forward — which they did!
On Tuesday’s finale, Gretchen has something sentimental for Tamra as well (which also ties in with Gretchen’s new single!.) During a party at Heather Dubrow’s house, she tells Tamra, “It’s my time to give you a present back.” When Tamra opens the gift and finds a charm bracelet, Gretchen explains that the first charm is the “key to her heart” and the second represents their similar style. The third charm is a silver heart with the word “unbreakable” on it. Gretchen brings Tamra to tears when she tells her that now, every time she looks down, she’ll know that she has been “unbreakable” through her divorce and everything she’s dealt with.
“Unbreakable” will be available for download on iTunes on June 26! Plus, catch Gretchen Rossi giving her gift to Tamra on Tuesday night’s finale of Real Housewives of Orange County season 7.
